WWE to create new international territories

WWE is in the preliminary stages of creating international territories. In the current issue of Financial Week, CFO Michael Selick talked about expanding the brand overseas, in essence, developing territories in international regions such as Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, Europe, and a Hispanic territory that would run show in Puerto Rico and Mexico, as well as in Central and South Africa. Vince McMahon has even talked about eventually expanding into Russia.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that Selick and Shane McMahon have been assigned to the business plan which is in its formative stages. Of course, this would involve WWE assigning wrestlers, agents and creative members overseas. Raw head writer Brian Gewitz is the only writer that has been told he isn’t in any danger of having to relocate. At this point, the plan would consist of the Chairman of the board Vince McMahon concentrating on the domestic side, and Shane McMahon overseeing the new international territories.
