The Wrestleline Report-Monday

Dan "The Man" Richards has joined The Indy Wrestleline as the new voice of option no. 2's "Upcoming Local Shows"! Hopefully everybody will give him a warm welcome, as he is a great guy and is very passionate about pro wrestling!

Backlash Results:

The Hardys d. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch to retain the World Tag Team Titles

Melina d. Mickie James to retain the Women's Championship

Chris Benoit d. MVP to retain the US Championship

Mr. McMahon, Shane McMahon and Umaga d. Bobby Lashley, with Vince McMahon being the new ECW Champion.

Batista v. The Undertaker was a draw, thus Undertaker's still World Champ

John Cena d. Randy Orton, Edge and Shawn Michaels to retain the WWE Title

Vince McMahon made the decision about two weeks ago to give Chris Masters a renewed push.

It's being said that Vince's interest in Smackdown is at an all-time high, and that it's almost become like an obsession for him. This is being credited mostly due to Michael Hayes, who it's being said is developing somewhat of a Pat Patterson-like business relationship with Vince.

Based on Nielsen's Fast National Ratings, last week's Friday Night Smackdown scored a 2.7 broadcast rating.

Right now it's being rumored that Randy Orton may be moved to either Smackdown or ECW as punishment, since RAW is looked at as the "A" brand, and Orton has expressed strong interest in staying on RAW. There's also rumors of keeping him off of big ppv's such as Summerslam, which could hurt him financially-i.e.-ppv bonuses.

Stone Cold Steve Austin's movie The Condemned finished in 8th place at the box office Friday night as it made a mere $1.3 million in 2,310 theatrers on its opening night. At this point, the movie is projected to take in $3.5 million during its opening weekend, which is far below anyone's expectations. This would have to be considered a bomb. Several people were predicting the movie to rake in between $7 and $10 million on its opening weekend. This figure is less than See No Evil, The Marine, or even Ready to Rumble.

Memphis Wrestling Results: Hulk Hogan v. Paul Wight!

Clash of the Legends Report and Results 4.27.07

----Moondog Cujo with "Big Cheese" Sal Corrente beat The Barbarian in pretty much a hardcore match. Crowd was into it. Barbarian had Cujo pinned, but Sal got on the ring apron with Cujo then pinning Barbarian.

----Greg Valentine beat Mr. Hughes with a roll up. Hughes had Valentine pinned with his feet on the ropes, but then ref Bill Rush seen it. Hughes had his back turned and Valentine rolled him up.

----Jazz beat Christie Ricci & Miss Passion in a triple threat Ladies Match.

----Abdullah The Butcher vs Big Al Greene was No Contest in a match that never got into the ring. A bloodbath. The fans got into it.

----Bill Dundee/Dutch Mantell with Jimmy Valiant vs Koko Ware/Bobby Eaton with Slick in the ring. Jimmy Hart came down from the announcer's desk to have the formation of the First Family with Koko/Eaton back together [they were a team a long time ago], then in called out Slick to manage them.

----Brutus Beefcake/Bubba The Love Sponge beat The New Assassins with "Big Cheese" Sal Corrente. Assassins looked just like the guys working in Memphis as Fire/Flame. Bubba was horrible in the ring. He did a splash from the second rope for the pin. Beefcake put Sal in the sleeper and they cut his hair after the match.

---- Brian Christopher beat Buff Bagwell with the hip hop drop. Bagwell talked about how bad Memphis was and heeled the crowd. Christopher came out to a huge pop.

----Southern Tag Team Title Match: Ricky Morton/Kid Kash beat "Too Cool 2" [Flex/Tim Grind] for the titles.

----Hulk Hogan beat Paul Wight slamming him and dropping the leg on him. It was around a 10 minute match with the crowd so nuts for Hogan!!

NOTES: No official figure, but I am guessing close to 6000 fans with a gate close to $256,500…Jazz performed her own entrance music to the ring…Koko had Frankie and got Lance Russell to dance with him…NBA's Memphis Grizzlies Mascot - The Grizz came out and was shooting t-shirts out to everyone at intermission…Before the show started, it was announced that "Too Cool 2" [Flex/Tim Grind] had regained the Southern Tag Team Titles from The Moondogs [Cujo/Spike]. That was one of those phantom changes. They announced Grind/Flex vs Rock N Roll Express for later in the show, but it turned out to be Kash/Morton…After Bubba’s match they brought some kid from St. Jude down and Bubba had the kid on his shoulders. VH1 cameras captured that and it was a kewl moment for the kid and the crowd…I got to say "great job" to Corey Maclin and crew for putting the local guys - Flex/Grind in the semi-main event. All my bitching about them not featuring the local guys and they do go and do this -- perfect way to get them over being seen by so many fans. I would have loved have seen them win, but apparently they got plans for Morton/Kash and Flex/Grind down the road…I was told all in all a fun show and crowd loved it.

----Brian Tramel @ www.rasslinriotonline.com with much appreciated help from Randy Dailey. Thanks to everyone for joining me on the site for the match by match coverage. I will continue to cover this story as a possible new era in Memphis Wrestling starts next weekend as they scheduled to do tapings with their regular crew. They promised the crowd a special TV show tomorrow night, so it will probably have clips from the show. Congrats to Memphis Wrestling cast and crew for a recording breaking crowd and setting a new standard for indy wrestling.

The Wrestleline Report-Friday

Don Frye on the sale of Pride to UFC: "It's like getting drunk and going to bed with a beautiful woman, and then waking up next to her fat ugly sister." Due to his affilation with IFL, Frye won't be used by UFC.

The 4/5 UFC special on Spike TV at the Palms in Las Vegas, NV drew 1,734 fans (1,141 paid for a $282,750 gate) in a 2,500 seat arena.

Dana White has said that the next season of the Ultimate Fighter would feature 170-pounders from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

It's being rumored that one of the biggest names in WWE has decided to leave the company along with an important behind the scenes person-we'll have more on this in upcoming days!

Lisa "Ivory" Moretti revealed on an internet radio show yesterday that she's now part owner of a dog washing/daycare center in Washington. Moretti has long had a passion for animals.

Jason Sensation, who had a short-lived gig in WWE in 1998 doing vocal impersonations of the wrestlers, is doing a series of interviews running down the company. On 'The O Show', they claim he "plans to discuss on future audio commentaries times he had sexually assaulted by agents in WWF."

Apparently before his removal from ECW creative, Paul Heyman pitched an idea to Vince McMahon to bring back Spike Dudley as the "giant killer." This supposedly caused friction between McMahon and Heyman.

Heyman suggested that Spike Dudley defeat The Big Show at last year's One Night Stand PPV. McMahon felt having Spike Dudley going over his giants would hurt their credibilities.

One of the roles considered for new IC champion Santino Marella was to be Kurt Angle's protege.

Another idea discussed for Marella was for him to be introduced as Anthony "Killer" Karelli.

ECW head writer Dave Lagana believes Marella could be the next Tazz.

Smackdown Spoilers

Smackdown opens with Batista, Mr. Kennedy and Finlay brawling backstage. Eventually the brawl takes them onto the stage. The lights go out, then return with Undertaker stood in the middle of the ring. They lights go back off and back on, with Undertaker nowhere to be seen.

- The Undertaker & Batista vs Mr. Kennedy & Finlay in a no DQ match was announced as the main event.

- The Boogeyman & Kane beat William Regal & Dave Taylor after The Boogeyman hit Taylor with a sit-down version of Khali’s finisher. This one dragged.

- Deuce (with Domino) beat Brian Kendrick (with Paul London).

- MVP cut a quick promo, then won a quick squash match against ‘The Scottish Champion’ (Drew Galloway we think).

MVP grabs the mic to announce a second opponent, but he’s interrupted by Chris Benoit. We get Benoit vs MVP right away, with Benoit winning via countout after MVP rolls out the ring to avoid the diving headbutt, and walks away. He teases returning to the ring at the count of nine, but walks away again.

- Teddy Long and Kristal were shown backstage talking.

- Jillian Hall vs Michelle McCool was up next. Jillian sang and dedicated her song to Prince William, since he’s single now. Somehow she sounds even worse live than on TV. Jillian then beat McCool, but got beat up after the match.

- The Undertaker & Batista vs Mr. Kennedy & Finlay is up now. Batista is working with his right thigh taped up. Batista pinned Finlay after a spinebuster for the win. Post-match, Batista cut a promo, saying he’d take his World Title back from Undertaker this Sunday. Undertaker responded by saying he’ll take Batista’s soul.

Even though the average SmackDown! rating is only 2.82 so far this year, WWE receives $300,000 per week from the CW Network.

WWE currently has around 35 thousand subscribers to its 24/4 video on demand service.

This Friday, Chris Jericho will co-host Eddie Trunk’s “Friday Night Rocks” radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM 27 beginning at 11:00 p.m. EST.

This year’s Hall of Fame Ceremony scored a low 0.9 cable rating compared to last year’s 1.8 rating. The reason WWE did good last year was mostly on the part of Bret Hart’s induction.

On June 16th there will be a Raw live from Knoxville, TN. They are currently advertising a triple threat for the WWE Title between Edge, Orton, and John Cena.

This past Monday WWE Champion John Cena celebrated his 30th birthday.

SmackDown diva Ashley Massaro will be undergoing surgery on her ankle to tighten a screw that came loose this coming week. No word yet on how long she will be out, but we are being told no one is making any immediate plans for her return.

TNA Impact Spoilers:

Kurt Angle vs. Sting went to a no contest. It was a short match that was mainly stalling. Christian and his buddies ran down to beat up on them, but Sting helped Angle clear house. For something that is supposed to be a dream match, giving it literally under four minutes in the middle of a TV show isn't exactly ideal.

Jay Lethal & Sonjay Dutt defeated Senshi & Shark Boy, Shelley & Kazarian, and Petey Williams & Jerry Lynn. This match was a four-way, and the winners compete in a triple threat match with Chris Sabin at Sacrifice for the x division title.

Team 3D defeated Scott Steiner & Tomko to retain the tag team titles. LAX helped 3D win and 3D pinned Tomko. LAX brawls with Steiner & Tomko after the match.

Christian Cage defeated Sting by DQ to retain the NWA title. Angle ran down and attacked Cage to cause the DQ. Sting hits Angle with the bat, and then leaves with a disappointed look on his face.

Interesting to note that Samoa Joe did nothing at these tapings besides the short four-way match in the first hour. I'm thinking that the segment involving Jarrett being revealed as Young's friend will be saved for hour two.

Matches Confirmed for Sacrifice:

X Division Title: Chris Sabin (champ) vs. Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt

Potential Matches For Sacrifice:

NWA Title: Christian Cage (champ) vs. Kurt Angle vs. Sting

Tag Team Titles: Team 3D (champs) vs. LAX vs. Tomko & Steiner

They are going to run when regular network programming is in reruns so that the expected ratings hit is kept to a minimum. The two shows will also be taped at regular TV tapings rather than going live, to save money on production expenses.

WWE has handed down a 60-day suspension on SmackDown referee Chris Kay. The reason for his suspension has yet to be disclosed. The referee roster is thinned out moreso because Nick Patrick in on limited duty due to a sore back.

Although there is no real talk on the subject, Mistico's CMLL contract expires in June. WWE didn't sign him after his tryout in February because they were led to be believe that he was under a long-term contract to CMLL.

Mr. Kennedy, MVP, Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch are getting good marks from some people in management because they are studying 80s tapes of long matches to improve their ring psychology. UFC has signed a deal with HBO and already controversey is stirring about this. Many people have criticized UFC for pushing their brand, and not MMA as a whole. Honestly, I think that's just how business works-you're not going to see Home Depot putting over how great Lowe's is-so why should UFC put over other MMA companies? Duh?

WWE Ends Ties with Deep South Wrestling

Courtesy of Dave Meltzer:

WWE severed ties with Deep South Wrestling today after Bruce Prichard spent time last week at the school and gave a negative report back to Vince McMahon. The ironic thing is Tom Prichard, Bruce's older brother, is the head coach at Deep South, although at this point Tom is still with WWE.

There had been problems from the beginning and rumors of its closing had come up several times.

At this point, there has been no talk about replacing Deep South with another developmental promotion. All talent from Deep South that will be retained by the company will be moved to Ohio Valley Wrestling.

The Wrestleline Report-Tuesday

I'd like to personally send my thoughts and prayers out to all the friends and families of those affected by the Virginia Tech shooting yesterday. It's truly sad that something like this has happened, and I don't believe it will ever be forgotten.

As a result of the Lockdown PPV, Sting will face Christian Cage for the NWA World Heavyweight title at TNA's 5/13 Sacrifice PPV.

There are writers in WWE that like Ring of Honor star Colt Cabana, which should improve his chances of making it to the main roster. Cabana recently signed a developmental deal, and will be reporting to Ohio Valley Wrestling.

From the where are they now section, former Tough Enough contestant and Smackdown diva Linda Miles is now a study hall advisor at Colerian High School in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Miles appeared on WWE television as Shaniqua with the Basham brothers.

WWE recently announced the releases of Jon Bolen and James Rogers from the developmental program. Rogers is a Canadian actor that never actually wrestled in Deep South or Ohio Valley Wrestling.

Publishers Weekly lists Mick Foley's "Hardcore Diaries" at #13 on the list of best selling non-fiction books.

Apparently the people that were filmed doing promos for Stone Cold's premiere of his movie "The Condemned" were told what to say, as none of them had seen the movie yet.

Ken Kennedy was recently interviewed and asked why it was that he announced himself whenever he came out. He said that when he came to OVW, it was known that he used to announce basketball games, so Paul Heyman told him to go out and introduce himself, and he states that simply by saying his name twice he got over really well with the crowd, so he's been doing that ever since.

I noticed something kinda interesting, amidst all the controversy with Hulk Hogan, WWE and the whole Memphis show coming up, there's a webisode of WWE Uncut on WWE.com where Hulk Hogan revisits his Summerslam match against Randy Orton.

Official RAW Preview!

Melee in Milan
April 16, 2007

This week, Raw will broadcast from Italy for the first time ever when the Superstars invade Milan’s Datchforum.

By order of Executive Assistant Jonathan Coachman, WWE Champion John Cena will face Rated-RKO in a Handicap Match on Raw.

Jonathan Coachman is a vindictive decision maker, as this is the same main event he had made for Backlash before being overruled by Honorary General Manager Michael Pena.

In addition, a Diva Fashion Show has been scheduled in the fashion capital of the world - Milan, Italy.

Last week, The McMahons got a little redemption for WrestleMania when they joined with Umaga to decimate ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley, leaving him bloodied in the ring. With The McMahons & the Intercontinental Champion set to face Lashley in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match for the gold at Backlash, will the Chairman and his cohorts throw an overseas obstacle in Lashley’s way?

Also, Mickie James seems to have Melina in her sights. After attacking the Women’s Champion during a special paparazzi photo op two weeks ago, Mickie teamed with Candice last week to defeat Melina & Victoria in tag team action. Does Mickie have designs on becoming Women’s Champion for a third time, and if so, will she come after Melina again in Milan?

Find out all this and more on Raw, Monday night at 9/8 CT on USA Network.

The Wrestleline Report-Friday

Darren McMillan, who wrestled as Dynamite D, passed away Wed. night at about 8 PM from complications related to cancer. McMillan played a big part in the Southern California independent wrestling scene, having a hand in the start of XPW, as well as Wrestling Society X.

Hulk Hogan v. Jerry Lawler has been called off. Hogan will still be on the show, but is now going to be taking on Big Show Paul Wight. Hogan stated that it was due to WWE & NBC Universal complaining that Hogan couldn't face anyone under a current WWE contract or something to that effect.

It's also being reported that the WWE has yanked The World's Greatest Tag Team and The Boogeyman from tonight's Memphis Wrestling show at Sam's Town Casino in Tunica, MS. As a result of the Lawler-Hogan fall out, WWE talent will no longer be able to work for the Memphis promotion. It's also being reported that WWE didn't pull Jerry Lawler from the match with Hulk Hogan on 4/27 because of the VH-1 taping, but rather that Vince McMahon didn't want a high profile match taking place with Hogan.

Former WWE diva Stacy Keibler has advanced in WDFN's (AM 1130 in Detroit) March Babeness Sweet 16 tournament. You can visit WDFN.com to vote. Wow, she left WWE for all of this.

Wrestle Line Thursday Report

Ted DiBiase Jr. made his Pro Wrestling NOAH debut in Japan earlier this month.
About 4,000 fans attended the hall of fame ceremony. There was a chant of "wifebeater" directed at Steve Austin, and "colon cancer is a slobberknocker" towards Jim Ross
Despite his induction into the WWE hall of fame on 3/31, there is still talk of replacing Jim Ross with Michael Cole on Raw. As previouly noted, JR's current contract expires this fall.
With UFC already in HD, there was internal talk of targeting next year's Wrestlemania to debut WWE in HD. WWE's first experiment with HD included a few glitches such as being able to hear wrestlers call spots. WWE is planning another round of HD testing. The CW Network is ready for Smackdown to go HD, while USA won't be ready for HD until next year.

IWA in Puerto Rico has sought out the financial help of former TNA owner, Jerry Jarrett. The promotion is in deep financial trouble, as the wrestlers are about 8 weeks behind in pay, and most have had to get a full time job. This deal with Jarrett has fallen through, though.

The 4/7 Saturday replay of TNA Impact did a 0.5 cable rating, with a 1.1 share.
I'd like to send my best wishes out to Jeff Jarrett and his wife, who has been battling cancer for many years. It's being reported that Jarrett's wife contracted pneumonia and wound up with a collapsed lung as her cancer treatment has killed off many of her antibodies.

TNA's monthly conference call with Spike TV will be with the current NWA champion Christian Cage.

Ricky Banderas is heading to TNA once his Wrestling Society X contract expires. He is slated for a big push.

Disco Inferno Arrested on Felony Charges

Courtesy of georgiawrestlinghistory.com

Glen Gilberti, best known as WCW star Disco Inferno, is being linked to an overnight raid, whereas at least twenty-seven people have been arrested for their involvement in a high stakes poker game. Two women had been employed as waitresses to serve drinks to the players, and were included in the arrests.

It is being reported that those arrested will all be charged with misdemeanors, and that more serious charges may be brought forth against the hosts of the game, including felonious commercial gambling. It is unclear at this time as to Gilbertis level of involvement.

Apparently, people had to register online in order to receive an invitation, and then produce an entry fee of $10,000 to participate in the weekly games of Texas Hold 'Em at a home in the normally quiet home in the suburban town of Roswell. There were complaints from neighbors, concerned about the amount of traffic outside their homes, and it is said that the raid capped a six-month investigation.

Law enforcement officials searched more than twenty vehicles after the suspects were removed from the home, and impounded them for possible further investigation. It is being reported that two handguns were found, as well as a bag of about two hundred pills believed to be ecstasy.

The story is still unfolding

This afternoon, details regarding last night's gambling raid in Roswell, Georgia, which included the arrest of Glen "Disco Inferno" Gilberti, continue to surface.

According to WAGA, Gilberti was living with Dan Tyre and his family. As had been suspected earlier today, Gilberti has been charged with felonious commercial gambling, also being reported by Doug Richards at WAGA.

Richards offered a definition the term "safe game", a phrase used by Roswell Police Department Sergeant B.C. Brackett to describe the gaming that had been going for many months in basement of the Tyre home. A safe game is apparently when money is not necessarily used on site, in an effort to help avoid large thefts in the event of a home invasion, or perhaps if someone enters the game with intentions of committing theft.

Most of the suspects arrested in the raid began bonding out around noon ET today, according to Harry Samler of WGCL. It is unclear at this time whether Tyre and Gilberti were still in custody or had been released.

Elaine Reyes of WXIA reported that the Tyre children, one aged two and the other not yet one, were indeed home at the time of the raid. She also clarified that Tyres full name is Walter Daniel Tyre, which created some confusion in earlier reports this morning that were initial listing him as "Walter", only to later refer to him as "Dan".

Brackett was quoted as saying that although many may question the seriousness of this act, the Roswell Police are concerned that activities such as this could lead to more serious crime.

It's highly doubtful that Carlito will be released, but WWE has definitely scared him, and Miz was convinced by someone backstage to pull a rib on JBL, who already hates The Miz, so Mizanin has been a little paranoid of getting fired as of late.

ECW Heavyweight champion Bobby Lashley is on the April/May cover of military magazine 'Salute'. The magazine is only available to military bases in the US and overseas and is free of charge. Raw on Monday got a 4.3 cable rating

In terms of video game franchises in North America, WWE ranks in seventh place in all-time revenue behind the likes of Madden, Pokemon, Mario, Grand Theft Auto and Star Wars.

Apparently contract negotiations with RVD and WWE are going pretty well. The general feeling backstage was that if RVD was buried at Mania that it would sour negotiations. Right now management is trying to convince him that if he re-signs, he will be a part of the WWE family way past retirement, with all of the merchandising opportunities, something that TNA cannot offer him-aside from the possible 400k per year he would be making in WWE.

It's being rumored that midwest wrestling sensation and ROH star Colt Cabana has signed with WWE. I will have more on this as it develops!

ECW on Sci Fi Preview!

The Land of the Extreme will be feeling the fallout of WrestleMania 23 when ECW on Sci Fi returns this Tuesday.

ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley defeated Umaga at WrestleMania, and was responsible for the egomaniacal Chairman Mr. McMahon leaving Ford Field a bald billionaire after the Battle of the Billionaires Match. One night later on Raw, Lashley once again defeated Umaga, this time in a Handicap Match also featuring Armando Estrada. What new challenges await the dominant ECW Champion?

The ECW Originals showed the New Breed that they were not ready to pass the hardcore torch to them during their victory over the young upstarts in their Eight-Man Tag Team war at WrestleMania. Tuesday night, however, the New Breed will have a chance at redemption when they challenge the Originals in their specialty match: an Extreme Rules Eight-Man Tag Team Match. Will Elijah Burke, Marcus Cor Von, Matt Striker & Kevin Thorn regroup or will they be forced to request a cease-fire in this battle over the Land of the Extreme?

CM Punk was unsuccessful in his WrestleMania debut in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. But the straightedge Superstar also has been coveted in recent weeks by the New Breed as Burke has tried to convince him to join the young upstarts. Will Punk shed some light on his post-WrestleMania plans?

Snitsky has steamrolled every unfortunate opponent placed before him since invading ECW. Will anyone be brave enough to step into the ring with the deranged monster next?

Don’t miss the next ECW on Sci Fi on Tuesday at 10/9 CT as the backlash from WrestleMania begins.

The Wrestleline Report-Tuesday

The city of Orlando is promising WWE officials that they will bend over backwards to help promote WrestleMania 24. Plans are already being formed to promote the event all over the metropolitan area. With revenues in Detroit reaching upwards of $30 million, Orlando is getting extremely anxious.

Wrestlemania 24 will take place on 3/30/07 in Orlando, FL, but the original plan was to run the show in Las Vegas, NV.

WWE had no deal with USA to air the WWE hall of fame ceremony until Vince McMahon got involved in talks with USA's Bonnie Hammer.

Apparently Jim Carrey was approached about inducting Jerry "The King" Lawler into the WWE hall of fame, but Carrey turned it down.

During his talk at MIT University on 3/29, Jim Ross stated that Vince Russo at one time wanted his job as head of talent relations.

Ric Flair is scheduled to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next year. Officials within WWE are hoping he will help draw people’s interest to the ceremony.

Apparently at WM during Kane's entrance, some of the pyro that went off started a fire backstage and caused quite a scare, but was extinguished before anything major happened.

Right now the rumored main event for Summerslam is Rey Mysterio, Jr. v. Vince McMahon

During Raw, they announced that the New Breed would face the ECW Originals once again in an eight man tag team match fought under Extreme Rules.

Now detouring from the Road to WrestleMania, Raw rolls ahead to Dayton, Ohio Monday night. But where will this path lead its Superstars?

WrestleMania’s Battle of the Billionaires ended baldly—sorry, badly—for WWE’s Chairman last night. Mr. McMahon threw just about everything he had to ensure a clear-cut victory over Donald Trump’s representative, Bobby Lashley. But it wasn’t enough; the ECW World Champion cut Intercontinental Champion Umaga down to size (with help from a Stunner by special guest referee “Stone Cold” Steve Austin), then forced a visibly “wigged-out” Mr. McMahon to make his appointment in the ol’ barber’s chair with The Donald. Now that WWE has a bald billionaire for a boss, Raw’s Superstars won’t want to be in his crosshairs when he crops up in Ohio Monday night. Will Mr. McMahon make others suffer for his “shear” embarrassment? Worse, will people confuse him with Raw Executive Assistant Jonathan Coachman?!

Shawn Michaels put forth a WrestleMania performance only a Showstopper like him could deliver, nearly reaching WWE’s highest mountaintop once more. But the Heartbreak Kid would know exactly that come the final result, as John Cena successfully defended the WWE Championship Sunday night by forcing HBK to tap out in the STFU. Both Superstars will be on hand at Dayton’s Nutter Center tonight, and both are still the World Tag Team Champions. But can they still co-exist with the titles? Hell, after what transpired at WrestleMania, can they co-exist in the same state?

Playboy cover girl Ashley nearly stripped the Women’s Championship from Melina during WrestleMania’s Lumberjill Match last night. However, the A-list Diva barely scored the cover to retain the title, then exited the ring amid Lumberjill pandemonium. Raw rolls out the red carpet once again for the primal screamer this Monday night, but will paparazzi snap any photos of her next challenger in the Buckeye State?

Raw embarks on a new Road to WrestleMania this Monday night, starting at 9/8 CT on USA Network!

The Wrestleline Report-Monday

Wrestlemania Results:

Aretha Franklin sang the national anthem

One of the guys I wanted to see win in the MITB Ladder Match-Mr. Kennedy-did win the match. I was glad to see this, as I was rooting for either him or CM Punk, but actually thought that Randy Orton would've won.

The Great Khali d. Kane

Chris Benoit d. MVP to retain the U.S. Championship-was glad to see Benoit win this.

The Undertaker d. Batista to become the NEW World Heavyweight Champion, thus he is STILL undefeated at Wrestlemania, with a new record of 15-0.

The ECW Originals d. The ECW New Breeds

ECW Champ Bobby Lashley d. Intercontinental Champion Umaga in the hair v. hair match, thus Vince McMahon is now as bald as "Baby Head" Bobby Lashley.

Melina d. Ashley Massaro to retain the Women's Championship

Sadly, John Cena d. HBK Shawn Michaels to retain the WWE Championship. It was also pointed out by JR before this matchup that Cena has been champion 20 of the last 24 months in WWE.

Wrestlemania 23 set an all-time attendance record for Ford Field in Detroit, at 80,103. This is also the largest grossing one day event as far as ticket sales in WWE history, with over $5.38 million in ticket sales. The buy rate for last night's ppv should be very interesting, to say the least.

There are some rumors going around that Chris Benoit may be moved to RAW in the near future.

The Ethiopian Champion that was manhandled by MVP this past week on Smackdown was Michigan wrestler, and former TNA star D-Ray 3000

TNA has officially announced Nashville, TN. as the location for the June 17 Slammiversary ppv
