The Wrestleline Report-Sunday

I'm most likely only going to be able to update the hotline a few times a week now unfortunately with the way things are going in my professional life-BUT-if anyone is interested in helping out on option one, please leave your info after the tone, and I'll be in contact with you!

Well just in case you hadn't heard by now, Linda Bollea, aka Linda Hogan has filed for divorce from the Hulkster. There had been rumblings for quite some time now that the two were headed in this direction, but there's even some rumors that this very well just may be a publicity stunt. In wrestling-you can never be too sure!

Smackdown did a 2.8 fast national rating

Bret Hart's book 'Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling' continues to sell well in Canada after a month in release, grabbing the number ten spot so far on's overall bestselling books. The book is
also in third place in the biographies chart and the number one in the sports category.

Former WWE Women's champion Trish Stratus appeared at the 22nd Annual Gemini Awards last month in Canada and looked quite stunning...and different too. Sporting a gold color dress and a new hairdo, Stratus was quite popular
with the photographers on the red carpet.

Over on WWE.COM, Anastacia Rose's profile has been added on the Smackdown Roster. Anastacia debuted on Smackdown on October, 12 as a backstage interviewer.

On and in the 500th issue of wwe magazine, that Donald Trump's face is blocked off the Wrestlemania 23 case. Apparently they could not use his face anymore to promote the disc.

The Wrestleline Report-Wednesday

Even though he is featured on the Turning Point poster, Judas Mesias most likely won't be back in time for the show.

Saturday's iMPACT! replay did a .4 rating.

Friday Night Smackdown on 11/16 scored a 2.7 broadcast rating.

Raw scored a 3.5 cable rating.

Former WWE champion John Cena has been dropped from the Celebrity Apprentice television show set to start airing in the beginning of January. Cena - along with other celebrities - was caught in New York City by TMZ.COM
cameras while filming a task last month. NBC released the names of the participants to the media this week and Cena's name was not on the list. No reason was given as to why he's not appearing on the show but since he's
rehabbing his injured arm it's probably something related to the injury.

A little bit of nudity went somewhat undetected at the Survivor Series as Michelle McCool's boob came out for a peek on Sunday during the ten women match. When Victoria was in the ring with McCool at 25 minutes 39 seconds
into the show, McCool twisted Victoria's arm and her boob came out from the side of her tiny top. McCool didn't notice immediately and after kicking Victoria in the face you could see her arranging her top and then going for
the cover.

It's being reported that Matt Hardy has undergone an appendectomy and is expected to be out of action for 1-3 months.

As I See It

Bob Magee
Pro Wrestling: Between the Sheets

Given events in the recent past; and thinking about the fact that we're moving into the Holiday Season, I remembered an old PWBTS classic which seems to fit in all too well for this week's column...Dan Moreland's "A Christmas Carol", written in the pattern and style of the classic Dickens fable.

For those of you who don't know, PWBTS started 11 years ago as a print newsletter. In our December 1997 issue, then-writer Dan Moreland wrote a wrestling version of "A Christmas Carol" that was the best thing we ever printed in our newsletter. With the issues that surround WWE and wrestling in general... this Moreland column seems to fit for a Christmas Day AS I SEE IT.

So I'm turning over the rest of this week's column to a re-printing of this PWBTS classic. Readers also have to keep in mind that certain elements of the "Christmas Carol" are no longer true. There is no real second competing promotion in the United States. There is very little chance of a certain individual leaving least as long as he stays married, that is; and happily, they seem to be a very married couple.

Sadly, certain elements are even more true, as you'll note with the obvious comparison between Brian Pillman in the fable and the death of Eddie Guerrero....or Chris Benoit.

Most importantly, there is no longer a WCW that is competing with Vince McMahon as it was in 1997...and in the that the actions that the real "Scrooge" is taking leave those within the real-life version of the story with even fewer choices that existed back in 1997.

Here then, from the December 1997 PWBTS newsletter is Dan Moreland's version of "A Christmas Carol".

A Christmas Carol

Once upon a time in a town called Stamford, there was a wrestling promoter who lived in Titan Towers named Vincent Scrooge McMahon.

At one time, Mr. McMahon owned the largest wrestling company in the world. He accomplished this by raiding other promoters territories, stealing their wrestlers and running them out of business. But now, he wasn't the biggest promoter in the world. You see, another man named Billionaire Ted had surpassed him by buying up all of HIS talent.

"I'm the greatest wrestling promoter in the world" chortled McMahon, "I'll just keep doing what I've always done, and people will eventually come back to me. All I have to do is keep giving them slogans and gimmicks, and they will all eventually come back to me".

At this time, Mr. McMahon has a wrestler under his employ by the name of Bob Cratchett. Bob was a very good wrestler, and knew how to give the fans their money's worth when he was in the ring. After all, he had been a wrestler for nearly 10 years.

There was one problem, though. When he went out on the street, no one recognized him. This was because Vince McMahon made him wrestle as Link the Clown. When he came to the ring, it wasn't for his great wrestling ability that people applauded for...all they wanted to see was for him to ride his tricycle, honk his horn, and squirt water on his opponents.

Why did Bob Cratchett lower himself to portray such a character? The answer is simple: he had a wife and sick child named Tim. As long as Bob would ride that tricycle, Mr. McMahon would keep the paychecks coming, and his son Timmy could continue to get the medicine he desperately needed to keep alive.

But Timmy had an even bigger wish. He wanted to see his Daddy wrestle on TV. Not Link the Clown....but just his Daddy...wrestle. Timmy was just four years old, and while he loved to watch Link the Clown...he didn't understand that it was really his father wrestling in that outfit.
Bob was desperate to make Timmy's wish come he felt that, being the Holiday season...if he could just talk to Vince McMahon, he could convince him to let wrestle...just once as Bob Cratchett. So Bob made sure he got to the WWF offices very early that next day. He figured McMahon would be there since he had a special to tape for TV...and he was right.

Bob summoned up his courage and said "Excuse me, Vince. Can I speak with you a moment?" McMahon looked at him for a moment. Cratchett was a preliminary wrestler..and besides, McMahon didn't recognize him out of gimmick."Why's Rob, isn't it? What can I do for you?"

"Well, Vince, I had a great idea for my character that I'd like to talk about with you, and I think you'd might really go over." McMahon thought for a moment and said "OK. Can we meet in my office in 20 minutes. I have some phone calls to return....I can make some time to talk with you then". "No problem, Vince...thank you very much" said Bob Cratchett.

So Bob sat outside the office for awhile. He waited...and he waited. First, HHH and his friends showed right up and walked right into McMahon's office without even knocking. As Bob sat in the overstuffed chair, he heard laughter and loud talking in the office. Bob decided to take a walk around the WWF offices to stretch his legs.

20 minutes later, he got back to McMahon's office, but the door was wide open. Bob searched and searched, but no Vince McMahon. Finally he ran into one of McMahon's road agents who told Bob that McMahon had left with HHH to tonight's taping of RAW down in Worcester. Bob Cratchett thought this strange, but got his gear and started the short drive to Worcester for the night's taping of RAW.

Bob stopped by his apartment in New Haven, and told his wife that he'd be home the next evening for Christmas Eve. Timmy came up to him and he told his son that yes, he'd be on TV tonight, so to be sure to watch.

Bob then got to Worcester...pulled into the parking lot...and here was Vince McMahon standing in the parking lot by the satellite truck talking to the technicians. "Vince...sorry I missed you for that meeting we were going to have" said Cratchett. McMahon looked at him and said

"Oh...yes... Bob, are you ready for the taping tonight?

Bob said "Yes, Vince...and that's what I wanted to talk to you about. I have a great idea for my character". McMahon stared at him and said "What would that be...oh, I know...didn't you always think Link would be funny if he used that spray foam or whoopee cushion?"

"Well, not exactly, Vince. I had a different idea. I've been a loyal employee for 2 years now. I put over Duke Droese. I had a pie smashed in my face by Jim Neidhart...and I AM grateful for the opportunity you've given me. But what I want to ask is this: I saw a Japanese tape and wanted to try this new spot in my match tonight with Flash Bob Cratchett. I don't care about putting over I wanted my boy Timmy to see his daddy wrestle on TV. And who knows...maybe with this new spot, I can help the ratings just a little bit against Ted Turner. I know you said we need everyone to help all they can".

McMahon stared at Cratchett and said..."OK, you're on". Cratchett felt ten feet tall. He called his wife and told her to let Timmy know that Daddy would be on TV tonight.

The day moved soon became 8:30 pm and the RAW Christmas Special taping would soon begin. Bob already had his assignment...he'd be putting over Flash Funk in seven minutes to open the show.

Normally, he'd be getting into his Link the Clown gimmick...but not tonight. As he waited for Bruce Pritchard to give him final instructions, most in the locker room were giving him strange looks.

Finally Pritchard arrived and called out Cratchett's name. "I'm right here, Bruce..." beamed the expectant Cratchett. "Cratchett, what in the hell do you think you're doing? It's twenty minutes before we go hot and you're not in your gear!" Bob said "Yes, I am...I talked to Vince and I'm working Flash Funk as Bob Cratchett...not as Link the Clown."

Prichard responded "Oh yeah...I just talked to Vince and you're putting over HHH in 30 seconds". Cratchett said "There has to be a mistake...Vince told me..." Pritchard replied "There's no mistake...get in your clown gimmick and be ready by 9:00 pm. We have a show to tape".

Cratchett responded "Really? Pritchard, you can tell Vince to go to hell. I gave my son my word..." Prichard responded "Uh...huh. Need I remind you of your payoff for tonight?" Cratchett sat there a beaten man, since he had to pay another bill for Timmy's medicine. He slowly walked away and got out his Clown makeup and thought "what will I tell Timmy"?

That night on RAW....Bob Cratchett did work HHH. But the world...and especially Timmy never got to see him. What the world saw was 30 seconds of Link the Clown putting HHH over in as professional a way as he could. And the world never got to see Cratchett's new spot....wouldn't want to make HHH look bad...

Later that night, Bob got a note with his paycheck to be at Titan Towers on Christmas Eve morning to shoot promos. Cratchett thought that was strange...but realized that wrestling wasn't a 9 to 5 job...and drove to Stamford.

When Bob got to Titan Towers bright and early at 8:00 am, he went to the studios, but no one seemed to be there. he waited for an hour until Blackjack Lanza showed up. "Hey Blackjack..where is everyone? I was told I'm shooting promos today". Lanza responded "No one's here from Production...but I do know that Vince wants to see you in his office'.

Cratchett thought that was strange, but figured that Vince had used that 30 second job as a sort of test...and that he'd rethought Bob's idea. Bob started to feel pretty good.

Bob walked into Vince McMahon's plush office, as McMahon was on the phone for several minutes. Finally McMahon turned around and told Cratchett to sit down. "Bob, as you know, we're in a real war with WCW.
As a result, our backs are to the wall. Therefore I regret to inform you that because of budget cuts, your services are no longer required". He then shook Cratchett's hand and walked out the office door.

Bob Cratchett slumped out of the WWF offices and walked to his Yugo a broken man. He didn't go home to his wife and son Timmy that night. Instead...he spent the day driving aimlessly through the streets of Stamford and the adjacent towns. What could he do...he had no job and worse in his mind...had broken his promise to his little son.

Bob Cratchett stopped at a liquor store that was still open and bought some vodka, He then checked himself into a Red Roof Inn and turned on the TV in the find that it was tuned to the RAW Christmas special. He watched Link the Clown do a job for HHH in thirty seconds.

Bob popped the somas that he'd used to relax those aching muscles he'd been suffering since that injury last summer...and washed it down with a glass... or two... or more... of vodka.

On the other side of Stamford...Vincent Scrooge McMahon went to bed after a long day at the office...even on Christmas. Linda was out of the house, and Stephanie was out of town visiting a family friend...but he'd expected her home already. Hours passed and Vince couldn't get to sleep. "Maybe it was the Italian food at catering..." he thought.

Time was 3:00 am. Vince suddenly woke up and saw a bald elderly man in what looked like a ring robe. Vince shook his head...and realized that he was looking at Verne Gagne.

"Verne?" said McMahon...

"I'm the ghost of Christmas past...and you must come with me...".

"Wait a minute", said McMahon, "'re Verne Gagne...and you aren't dead". The ghost replied "I may as well be after what you did to me. Come with me, Vince...."

McMahon shook his head, convnced he was in a dream and tried to dial the police from his bedside phone...but found that the phone was dead.

Suddenly, McMahon found himself with the ghost outside an Arena. "Here's a program, Vince. let's see what's on the show tonight".

McMahon replied "Where am this a dream?" "We're outside the St. Paul Civic Center...1984, Vince. Let's read the program."

McMahon read the program which listed familiar names...Rick Martel, Dino Bravo, a special in-ring interview with Gene Okerlund of AWA Heavyweight challenger Hulk Hogan...who would be taking on Nick Bockwinkle.

The two went out into the Arena and grabbed third row seats...but there was one strange thing. They were the only people in the St. Paul Civic Center's seats. McMahon said "What gives? Where are all the fans?"

"Well, maybe this guy can tell us..." said Gagne. The ring announcer came out and said "Ladies and gentlemen...there are some changes on tonight's wrestling card here at the St. Paul Civic Center".

Vince looked puzzled. "As Gene Okerlund is not here for this evening's show...tonight's special in-ring interview will be done by Eric Bischoff.

Further, there has been a change in the AWA superstar being interviewed. We were notified earlier today that Hulk Hogan has signed a contract with Vince McMahon and the WWF, and will no longer be wrestling for you fans here in the AWA."

McMahon shook his head, but the announcer wasn't finished. "There are two other changes in this evening's show. Even thought you saw Dino Bravo and Rick Martel on TV this morning to talk about their matches on tonight's show. We just received word that Rick Martel and Dino Bravo have joined Hulk Hogan and will no longer be wrestling here in the AWA."

McMahon gulped, but there was one last thing to hear "Ladies and gentleman...since we have had these changes in tonight's show, we're going to add a special bonus match that should make up for your disappointment" I present to open tonight's show...the finals of the $1,000,000 Team Challenge with Illustrious Jonnie Stewart against Jake Milliman...".

"Nooooo...." said McMahon, "I'm sorry Verne, how could I have done this to you? Verne, I'm sorry I raided you without letting your talent finish up...Please forgive me...Verne....Verne?"

Suddenly McMahon was back in his house in Stamford waking up in a cold sweat. He said "My GOD...what a nightmare". McMahon laid back down again and heard someone in the house. Maybe Stephanie had finally come home. He wondered where she'd been all these hours.

But it wasn't Stephanie. "Who's there?" yelled Vince. He looked in the shadows and saw a sight that made his heart stand still. He could clearly see the wide open eyes staring at him even through the dark cold night.

Then the figure stood up...The figure took off his hood to reveal long wild blonde hair.

It was Brian Pillman.

"Merry F'n Christmas, Vince" screeched Pillman as he held his cane to McMahon's neck. McMahon finally spoke "But...but're...".

"Dead...of course I'm dead, you moron. You remember telling everyone right before that PPV, don't you, Vince?" said Pillman, with his eyes almost maniacal. "Then you even used my wife to jack up your Neilsen ratings against WCW..." Pillman continued.

"Now wait a minute..." said Vince, "I gave your wife a chance to speak..." "SHUT THE HELL UP..." said Pillman. "Maybe if it weren't for promoters like you, I'd be alive, instead of six feet under..." McMahon tried to reply with the cane pushing against his throat, "Now wait one minute, Brian...the coroner said you died of a heart attack from clogged arteries".

"I said SHUT UP, bookerman. Maybe if it weren't for having to use steroids to get gassed up to get the look all of you wanted...or having to work with a broken leg, I would have been in good enough shape to survive a heart attack. Now... give me one reason not to take your sorry ass out now..." said Pillman.

"Because you're the ghost of Christmas Present and you're going to show me somewhere to show me something about my life today..." said a gasping McMahon.

"Oh yeah...that's right..." said Pillman..."Besides, I was working all along, you know".

The next thing Vince McMahon knew...Brian Pillman was nowhere to be found.

But he could hear a shower running. McMahon tried to find the door of the room...but there was none. McMahon had no choice but to sit and ponder what he'd seen. " this a dream? Did I die and go to hell. DAMMIT, where am I?" Then he heard the sounds of someone getting dressed. McMahon called out "Who is it now? Dammit...who's there?" "I'll be right out" said the voice with a very familiar Canadian accent.

Suddenly Vince looked up...and saw a figure in pink tight, a leather jacket and dark wrap-around glasses.

It was Bret Hart.

"Remember, Vince? It wasn't THAT long ago. Remember how you humiliated me in front of all my countrymen and put the title on Shawn Michaels? DO YOU?" McMahon replied "Now, Bret ...wait a screwed yourself. I had to do the best thing for business..."

"Oh yeah...I remember that crap on RAW. What a farce. I also remember you saying that you'd like to go one on one with me. So here you go, Vince. Now's your shot...."

Suddenly out of the darkness came a right hand, shattering Vince McMahon's jaw. "Come on, Vince...get up. Fight me a like a man like you told those fans you would". Hart then kicked McMahon in the ribs.

He kept on hitting McMahon over and over again. As his head began to swim...McMahon heard several people cheering Hart on. He started to make out the figures in the darkness that were egging Bret Hart on. It was a room full of the people McMahon has screwed over the last 10 years.

He saw Terry Taylor in his Red Rooster haircut.

He saw Bruno Sammartino, sadly shaking his head.

He saw Tony Atlas in his Saba Simba costume.

He saw face after face, name after name that he'd hurt unnecessarily...that he'd given gimmicks to not for business sake, but for his own amusement over the years.

Suddenly, here he was...Vince McMahon, the most powerful man in his industry, and he was helpless to defend himself. Just as suddenly...the beatings stopped. McMahon looked around and found himself in hisbed again. No broken jaw. No injured ribs. McMahon said out loud

" this only a dream?"

Another voice, only dimly visible... with long blond hair... called out "You tell me, brother..."

McMahon said " I met the Ghost of Christmas Past...and Christmas Present...I suppose you're the Ghost of Christmas yet to be?"
" know who I am. I'm the future of wrestling. You said so yourself. Anyway, I got stuck as your tour guide, so let's go." The wrestler took McMahon to a trailer park. They stopped outside a double-wide trailer. The sign on the door said "Vincent Ebenezer McMahon".

"Dude...nice flamingos" the blond wrestler said. McMahon responded, "I'm the biggest promoter in all of wrestling....I do NOT live in a trailer park".

"Guess again, dude" replied the wrestler. "Remember, brother, this is the future. Look...I gotta go. Why don't you take a peak inside..." And with that the blond wrestler disappeared.

Now McMahon would rather not look inside bit somehow he knew he had to. What could be inside? There in front of him was an elderly man with beady eyes watching what looked like a wrestling tape on his TV.

The man had a bitter, angry look on his face and was saying to the screen " SOB. I made you what you are today. You'd be nothing without me. How dare you....".

Now...McMahon looked at the TV screen even closer. On the screen was a picture of Hulk Hogan from back in 1986 with his yellow t-shirt playing to the crowd. McMahon looked at the old man again, and realized that he looked very familiar. The old man then turned off his VCR, and turned on a cable channel.

On TV this time was a older, thinner Hogan dressed in black. Despite his age, he still had star power. He spoke on the house mike as a beaming Eric Bischoff stood beside him. Hogan started to talk again... "You know, brother, the NWO rules the world. And now, Amigo, that we are part of the only two wrestling organizations on the world...we gotta bring out the newest members of the New World Order. Hit our music".

With that...the NWO's trademark music started playing. As McMahon watched the TV screen, he realized how much he hated that music. The cameras turned toward the entrance ramp...and McMahon's own spine froze as he saw his two top wrestlers...HHH and Shawn Michaels.

"Nooooo....." yelled McMahon, "Not you Shawn...and you, Hunter. I had PLANS for you".

"Daddy....daddy...are you in there?" came from the door as a mature woman in a business suit came in. It was his own daughter Stephanie.

He realized that the figure sitting in the chair in the trailer park...was him in the future. "No, oh my God...nooooo....".

Suddenly, Vince found himself back in his own room at home.

Only hours later... it was Christmas Day.

Vince McMahon came to the office, with Linda, Shane ,and Stephanie not understanding what was going on... Vince would only tell them that he had something important to do, and that he would be home as soon as he could.

He went nuts for hours on Christmas Day, trying to find the man he'd fired only the day before...Bob Cratchett. McMahon called the Cratchett house himself and found out that Bob had never come home yesterday after their meeting. Cratchett's wife said "Please, Vince...find Bob for Timmy's sake. He's brokenhearted...he can't understand why his daddy wouldn't come home for Christmas."

McMahon gave his pledge to Cratchett's wife that he would find Bob, no matter what he had to do. McMahon called Pat Patterson and told him to check every hotel in the State of Connecticut if need be...but they were going to find Bob Cratchett. 4:00 pm on Christmas Day, Patterson ran into McMahon's office, and told him that there was a Bob Cratchett registered at the Red Roof Inn in nearby Greenwich.

McMahon, Patterson, Gerry Brisco, and Bob Remus raced to the hotel
and found the room. They broke down the door to find Cratchett in the room with a bottle of vodka and and empty bottle of somas.

Eventually they were able to wake up Cratchett. But Cratchett jumped back when seeing McMahon and said " don't care what you say...I'm not putting on that damned clown suit again". McMahon laughed...and looking with curious eyes... so eventually did Slaughter, Patterson and Brisco.

"Bob", McMahon said, "how would you like to work for us again. Not Link the Clown. We all knew that gimmick stunk anyhow. How about if we start fresh and have Bob Cratchett...the wrestler that we all knew could make anyone look good...actually get a push of his own?"

With a shocked look on his face...Cratchett accepted.

Now we'd love to say that Vincent Ebenezer McMahon turned his business around and learned the lessons of that Christmas Eve. All we can say is that, at least in our story...Vincent McMahon finally found his soul... and on the Monday after New Year's Day...little Timmy got to see his father wrestle.
After the tragedy involving Nancy Benoit, Daniel Benoit, and Chris Benoit, and the passings of far too many wrestlers yet again this year...let's hope 2008 brings us a few real life happy endings.

Until next time...

- A leaked WWE Magazine cover has Y2J Chris Jericho on the front and it

Cena's answer was altered after complaints from WWE. WWE posted the unedited
interview on the website which clearly shows that CNN edited Cena's answer

TNA Impact Spoilers-Thanksgiving Edition!

In a match taped for the Thanksgiving episode of iMPACT (November 22nd), Samoe Joe pinned AJ Styles in a three way match with Chris Sabin in the finals of something called the "Turkey Bowl". As a result, Joe "won" $25,000 and Styles was forced to dress in a turkey outfit. The match went a little longer than 15 minutes and was excellent after the three got going. After the match, Jim Cornette came out and demanded Styles wear the outfit or he would be fired. Styles reluctantly put it on. Kurt Angle came out dressed as a pilgrim and talked about how ridiculous Styles looked. The Outsiders and Samoa Joe came to the top of the stage and bantered back and forth with Angle until the six men began brawling again. Eric Young came out and started running around with a turkey leg, which ended up in Angle's mouth as Nash, Hall, and Joe beat him up.

- Chris Sabin defeated Abyss and Brother Devon in a Triple Threat Match.

- Samoa Joe defeated Johnny Devine and Kip James in a Triple Threat Match.

- AJ Styles defeated Jay Lethal and Christian Cage in a Triple Threat Match.

- ODB defeated Velvet Sky (Talia Madison) and Angelina Love (Angel Williams) in a Triple Threat Match.

- Booker T came out to cut a promo, but was interrupted by Robert Roode, who issued a challenge for later tonight.

- Eric Young & Gail Kim defeated Jimmy Rave & Christy Hemme.

- James Storm and Eric Young had their second beer drinking contest. Eric won, but got laid out by Storm afterwards, who bloodied him.

- Team 3D defeated Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal in a Street Fight.

- Rhino defeated Rellik.

- Booker T defeated Robert Roode. After the match, Christian attacked Booker T along with Roode, but Kaz made the save.

- Kaz, Abyss, Scott Steiner & Samoa Joe defeated AJ Styles, Tomko, Kurt Angle & Christian when Joe pinned Christian.

- In a match taped for Xplosion, Johnny Devine defeated Petey Williams.

TNA Impact Spoilers for This Thursday!

TNA Wrestling returned to Soundstage 21 at Universal Studios. With an abbreviated build time for the next pay-per-view, Final Resolution on the eve of December 2nd, the company was forced to tape a show and a half tonight, as there will only be three iMPACT's leading up to the PPV. The show was one of the best from top to bottom since the company went to two hours.

At some point before the show, they filmed Jim Cornette at the announcer desk talking about how Booker T and Sharmell haven't signed contracts yet and to avoid getting sued that there is to be no calling the two of them by their names. Cornette said he would have a signing ceremony later on.

Kurt Angle opened the show with AJ Styles and Tomko. He talked about the tag match from last night and welcomed Styles and Tomko into his fold as his "new family." This brought out Kevin Nash, who reminisced jokingly about being family with Angle prior to their falling out. Nash eventually got into the ring and began to brawl with Styles, Tomko, and Angle. The numbers game began to overwhelm Nash until he was saved by the majority of the TNA babyfaces.

Lance Hoyt & Jimmy Rave w/ Christy Hemme defeated LAX. LAX was perhaps the most over act in the company at this taping and it was disappointing to see them in such a lower tier match. Hemme got on the apron to distract the referee leading to Rave scoring the pin with a rollup.

Team 3D was backstage with the X Division Championship and a captured and hooded X Division wrestler. They went through a list of demands that they wanted the X Division to comply with to get the belt & the wrestler back. The list included junk food.

We go to Kristal backstage with Christian Cage. He was very upset about losing Tomko and Styles, saying he will get an explination out of the two of them. This almost seemed like he was teasing a babyface turn although later in the show this proved to be incorrect.

In a Mixed Tag match, Bobby Roode & Traci defeated Chris Harris & Gail Kim. After an opening sequence with the women, Roode sent Traci to a chair at ringside and wrestled the rest of the match with Harris. After Roode scored the pinfall, he got into an argument with Traci, who argued back and finally quit. She left the ring and jumped the Roode fan planted at ringside until security pulled the two apart.

Team 3D comes out with the beaten and hooded X Division wrestler and calls out the X Division to meet their demands. The Motor City Machine Guns and Jay Lethal come out and Sabin and Bubba banter back and forth with each other. 3D releases the hood on the wrestler and it turns out to be Havok. Bubba mentions that there is "a traitor within the X Division", which sends Shelley, Sabin, and Lethal to the ring, as well as with the other X Division wrestlers who come from the other side of the building. The three brawl with the X Division guys gaining the advantage until Havok turns on the X Division and hits them all with his cane.

Scott Hall and Kevin Nash come out and announce their reunion at the next pay-per-view, in a six man match with Angle, Tomko, and Styles. They tell Angle that he'll find out who the partner is "later tonight."

In a Triple Threat match, Abyss defeated Relic & Black Reign. Relic is Johnny The Bull and debuted last night at Genesis. This match was a typical Abyss/Black Reign style match ending with Abyss scoring the pin with a Black Hole Slam on Relic. After the match, Reign and Relic beat down Abyss until Rhino made the save.

In a women's match, Awesome Kong defeated Alexa Jade. Kong was still staring at the picture of Gail Kim. This was the standard Kong squash that we've been seeing since she came to TNA. It never ceases to get old. Kong won with a sitout powerbomb. After the match, Gail Kim came out and the two women brawled with security in the middle until Kong laid Kim out.

The signing ceremony then took place. Cornette came out and introduced Booker T and Sharmell, who "officially signed" with TNA. Christian Cage came out and argued with Booker T. The two ended up brawling until security broke them up.

Kurt Angle successfully defended his TNA World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Kaz. Kaz got a ton of offense in, even cleanly landing the flux capacitor. However, Angle kicked out and quickly landed an odd looking DDT and hooked Kaz for a three count. This was a very good match. Afterwards, Angle got on the mic to talk trash to Nash and Hall. They came out and began fighting with Angle, which brought out Styles and Tomko. However, Samoa Joe ran down and helped the Outsiders clear out the ring, setting the stage for the main event at Final Resolution.

In a match taped for Xplosion, Eric Young defeated James Storm.

The Wrestleline Report-Sunday

The USA Network will be airing the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Monday, February 11th, 2008 from 8 to 11 PM. No word yet on when WWE Raw will air that week.

Amy Hennig, the daugher of WWE hall of famer Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig, was given a one-week tryout at OVW.

According to reports, John Cena has been rehabbing his upper body twice a day.

THQ is spending $11 million to market the new Smackdown vs. Raw '08 video game. THQ will spend $7 million in the United States, and $4 million across the rest of the world starting 11/13.

The Fabulous Moolah held off her shoulder replacement surgery for years, since she knew that once she had the surgery, her wrestling career would be over.

WWE called The Fabulous Moolah before the surgery offering to take care of her expense, but she informed them that she had insurance and didn't need financial assistance.

The "one night only" DX reunion on Raw last week was Vince McMahon's way to appease USA Network boss Bonnie Hammer (who favors the stars she is familiar with from 1998-2001).

JBL appears to be gearing up for a return to the ring. He has lost 25-30 pounds, and is down to about 270 lbs. is now selling TNA Christmas ornaments.

Also speaking of, Don West's Genesis PPV special is now up. You get the original TNA Best of the X Division and Title Matches DVDs from 2003, 9 random aurographs and the newest Sting and Rhino t-shirts all for $79.99.

TNA sent out a text message last night via it's mobile service stating that Sting's partner at Genesis has never stepped in a TNA ring before.

TNA Genesis PPV Lineup and Predictions:

TNA World Championship Tag Match-winner of the fall wins the title
Angle & Nash v. Sting & ?-now THIS is the intersesting one. I'm going to go out on a limb and play devil's advocate here. I'm predicting that it won't be Booker T as Sting's partner, and whoever it is will team up with Angle & Nash to beat Sting, and the three will form a new group. Sure-probably won't happen, but hey, what the hell right? Oh yeah-Angle retains.

TNA X Division Title
Lethal v. Dutt-Lethal retains

TNA Tag Titles
Styles & Tomko v. Steiner Brothers-Styles & Tomko retain

Team 3D v. Shelley & Sabin-Team 3D

Samoa Joe v. Robert Roode-Robert Roode upsets

TNA Women's Championship
Kim v. Roxxi v. ODB v. Williams-Kim retains, but Awesome Kong gets involved at some point

Fight for the Right Tourney Final:
Kaz v. Cage-Cage

Shop of Horrors Match:
Abyss v. Black Reign-Abyss

Voice your opinion to CNN!

If you're just as tired as me of the media's spin on pro wrestling, and namely the most recent mis reporting in the "Death Grip" documentary, here's a link where you can leave CNN your thoughts!

The Wrestleline Report-Saturday

"The Weekend Warrior" Randy Klemme has returned to option 2 of The Indy Wrestleline with his independents day report-be sure to call and check it out, and welcome back to the hotline Randy!

Well, from the early ratings data, looks like TNA Impact got about a 1.04 cable rating.

Smackdown got a 2.9 fast broadcast rating, and as usual the final number should be out this coming week.

If you watched the CNN documentary on pro wrestling a few nights ago, you may have heard John Cena state in an interview something along the lines of "I can't say that I haven't, but you'll never be able to prove that I have"-referring to steroid use. Now, the REAL interview-uncut and unedited-is on, and if you listen to the interview in it's entirety, you'll notice that John Cena says something quite different, and what was used on the CNN cut was simply taken out of context.

Former WWE star Romeo Roselli will be appearing on a soap opera in coming weeks.

Chris Jericho will be appearing on FOX News' Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld at 10PM ET tonight to promote his book.

During a recent interview, Shawn Daiviri said in a reent interview that former WWE superstar Muhammad Hassan is currently doing screenwriting and acting.

The Fight Network is reporting that Harry Smith (DH Smith), the son of WWE legend The British Bulldog, tested positive for Winstrol. Winstrol is also known as Stanozolol, which is a synthetic anabolic steroid. Smith is currently serving a 30-day suspension.

According to the Raw preview, Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels will have a face-off this week, and Triple H and Mr. Kennedy will battle it out in a lumberjack match.

It's been announced that Hulk Hogan's co-host for American Gladiators will be Laila Ali.

The Wrestleline Report-Friday

Be sure to check out Nick "U-Gene" Dinsmore at EWF tonight in Marion if you can! For more info, check out!

WWE has released OVW talent Ryan Wilson, who wrestled in TNA as Trytan I believe; he also wrestled locally as Lord Humongous.

There's some "codes" in TNA promo videos, further hinting that Booker T will be Sting's partner at the Genesis ppv this Sunday, as in one of the videos there's graffiti on a wall, and when you read it backwards it spells Booker T's last name-"Huffman". reported recently that Joanie Laurer has legally changed her name to Chyna, and she also challenged Vince McMahon to a match anytime. I think the only time she'll have the pleasure of rumbling with him is in the court room.

As I See It

Bob Magee
Pro Wrestling: Between the Sheets

To begin this week's column...since Dave Meltzer reported it publicly Thursday, I suspect what she told me a while back is now considered public news.

My longtime friend Kathy Fitzpatrick, who was one of the Team ECW that ran transportation and the front door in the earliest years of the promotion behind the scenes (think "office") has been diagnosed with a recurrence of lymphoma. She is currently being treated through both chemotherapy and radiation.

Many of my longtime AS I SEE IT readers know how close she was to Sherri Martel, who died earlier this year, so it's been a very difficult year for her, to say the least. As always, Fitz, love and prayers to you from all of us who know you well.

In other sad news, Lillian "The Fabulous Moolah" Ellison died at her home in Columbia, SC last Friday at age 84. Moolah was a lot more than the comedy figure seen with Mae Young in recent years on WWE television.

She began her career as "Slave Girl" Moolah, valet for "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers. Moolah won her first Women's Title in 1956 in a tournament held in Baltimore, MD.

She was billed as "undefeated women's champion for nearly 30 years" for Moolah had, in fact, lost her title at least four times; to Betty Boucher in 1957, Yukiko Tomoe in Japan in March 1968, Sue Green (ironically enough, at Madison Square Garden) in 1976 and Evelyn Stevens in Dallas on October 1978.

Ellison appeared for various NWA territories as well as WWWF shows, until Vince McMahon, Jr. went nationwide with WWF in 1983, and offered Ellison an exclusive deal, where she literally sold her rights to the Women's World Title to the World Wrestling Federation (she owned the belt and title outright at the time).

She finally lost her title at the 1984 Wrestlemania in a match against Wendi Richter (who had Cyndi Lauper in her corner). 15 months later, after Richter and WWF developed an impasse, WWE and Moolah pulled off a doublecross that pre-dated the infamous Bret Hart Montreal screwjob by 12 years; as she donned a mask as the Spider Lady, and regained the belt in November, 1985

Moolah held the WWF title (with the exception of another non-recognized loss to Velvet McIntyre during a tour of Australia in 1986) until passing the torch to Sherri Martel on July 24, 1987.

Moolah was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1995, the first female performer to receive this honor. Moolah was seen again on WWF TV in 1999 after taking a guitar shot from Jeff Jarrett. Moolah, along with longtime friend Mae Young, made numerous appearances over the next several years as a comedy figure; with one final eight day interlude as WWE Woman's Champion in October 1999, defeating Ivory nd the 76-year old Moolah defeated Ivory to regain the Women's Title, thus becoming the oldest WWE Women's Champion ever.

Vince McMahon then promised her a match appearance on her 80th birthday, which became a match against Victoria, followed by Randy Orton nailing her with a RKO.

Moolah's final mainstream hurrah came along with many 1950s era women's wrestlers in the 2004 film "Lipstick and Dynamite", a documentary about the women wrestlers from the 1950s era. She and Mae Young even promoted the film on the Tonight Show, and got these two some of the respect they've deserved for years.

Moolah made her final WWF/E appearance at SummerSlam 2007 in a segment with Vince McMahon and William Regal.

Somehow, I suspect Sherri Martel and Moolah are already raising holy hell with the powers above us, and making life a whole lot more fun upstairs.

Until next time...

- Former co-workers and friends of the Fabulous Moolah have talked to
WWE.COM sharing their opinions and stories about the former WWE Women's
champion. From her close friend Mae Young to the current Women's champion
Beth Phoenix, Moolah pretty much effected everyone in one way shape or form
especially when it came to women's wrestling. You can read the Remembering
Moolah article on WWE.COM. Hopefully WWE will come up with a great tribute
this coming Monday on RAW and deal with it better than what they did for
Sherri Martel when she passed away.
