Candice on Painkillers

-- Regarding Candice Michelle's re-aggravated collarbone injury, which has her on the sidelines again, Lewis from Tucson wrote the following: "Just for your info, I'm on my second collar bone surgery. I think I've told you this story before (thus why I'm on pain killers), but I walked around with a broken compressed collar bone for 3 years, got it fixed, and almost 4 months later to the date the plate broke and I had to get two plates put in and the broken one removed. Candice is done. I'd put money on it. She may try again but I'm gonna bet you she's done. These things can snap so easily and get infected so easily. In fact I'm on antibiotics again right now and my surgery was on February 4th".

TNA Results 4-24-08

Ladies and Gentleman we are coming to you live from beautiful Orlando, FL. Welcome to TNA Impact LIVE!!!

We start the show with an in ring promo from Booker T. He asks Sting to come out and talk to him. He apologizes to Sting for last week and for disrespecting him. So they are BFF again. Hit Robert Roode’s music. Roode and James Storm come out and tell Sting and Booker to get married. Jim Cornette comes out and announces a match tonight with Storm and Roode v. Sting and Booker. He also announces that at Sacrifice there will be a tag team title tournament called Deuces wild involving Tag Teams and Singles wrestlers who won’t know who their partners are until that night. On a side note they should have left the Sting v. Booker match alone. Those two could have put on a legendary match.

In the back AJ is shown bringing Karen Angle in the door. JB tells him that Kurt is going to freak. I hate JB so much.

Deuces Wild Qualifying Match
Relik and Black Reign v. Team 3D
This was a very quick match that ended with team 3D hitting the 3D for the win.

Winners: 3D

Backstage Kurt says tonight he will beat Joe and then go on to Sacrifice and beat Rick Steiner. JB corrects him and say it is Scott he will face. Kurt says whatever.

Deuces Wild Qualifying Match
Motor City Machine Guns v. Christian Cage and Rhyno
This was really an amazing match between two fantastic teams. Cage and Rhyno got the upper hand early with Cage landing a devastating DDT on Sabin. Sabin hits a double DDT on Cage and Rhyno. Christian went for the Frog Splash and missed it. But he followed it up with the unprettier and Rhyno with the Gore at the same time.

Winners: Cage and Rhyno

Cornette announces a battle royal followed by a ladder match at sacrifice for the knockouts. The winner gets to face Awesome Kong. Runner-Up gets her head shaved Britney Spears style. Really looking forward to that match. Blink, Blink, Stare.

Sting and Booker T v. James Storm and Robert Roode
The was an OK match that could have been much better with just Sting and Booker. Sting and Booker share the load for most of the match. Storm goes to the beer bottle but misses Booker. Sting Hits the Scorpion Death Drop on Storm while he was wearing Storm’s cowboy hat. Sweet touch.

Winners: Sting and Booker T

After the match Storm and Roode have to be separated.

Cornette will have an announcement next week for a special crazy match at Sacrifice.

Main Event
World Heavyweight Title Match
Samoa Joe (c) v. Kurt Angle

I was curious if they would wrestle normal or MMA style. They went with an amateur fell to their match. Joe went for a Suicide dive early and landed it. Kurt took advantage close to the half way mark and went for his version of the Stinger Splash but Joe caught him in midair and landed a Rock Bottom. Joe went for a dive again and landed outside the ring and hurt his knee. Nash came down and told him to stand up and continue, he did. Kurt later went for the Ankle Lock and Joe countered Kurt hit the Olympic Slam and Joe kicked out at 2. Kurt went for a Moonsault and missed it. Kurt followed up quickly with the Ankle Lock again and Joe countered with the rear naked choke. Amazing shots of Joe with it locked in and his eyes rolled back in his head. Joe goes for a kick to the head and hits Hebner. With Hebner out Scott Steiner interferes with a lead pipe to Kurt’s head and Joe hits a Suplex for the win.

Winner: Samoa Joe

After the match Cornette announces at Sacrifice it will be a triple threat match.
Samoa Joe v. Kurt Angle v. Scott Steiner.
On a side note I could watch Joe and Kurt wrestle every week. This was an amazing match. Thank you TNA.

RVD's Wife has Colon Cancer

This afternoon Rob Van Dam posted a blog on his MySpace page annoucing that his wife Sonya has been diagnosed with colon cancer. We wish Rob and Sonya the very best with her treatment, keep her in your prayers.

Here's the blog entry from RVD's MySpace:

One good thing about spreading positive energy and encouraging an optimistic approach to life- when it comes time to get a taste of my own medicine, it's good. Still, it may not be fun to be put to the test. It may be quite unpleasant. After thinking of several ways to put this, I decided to give it to you straight- just like we got it. After months of chasing down the origin of stomach cramps, we got the news that Sonya has cancer in her colon. Obviously, this was not something we wanted to hear, and were not at all prepared for it. This is the kind of thing that we hear about happening to other people. Us? Really? I'm sure that a lot of you realize that cancer is way too common. In fact, I know that many of you are all too familiar with what we are experiencing. This is very personal and I understand if you would choose to keep it on the down-low. One of Sonya's first thoughts was that if she could have colon cancer (being a 32 year old, lean, active, and healthy eating female that noly hits 3 digits on the weight scale), "We need to tell everyone it could be them!" Months of testing showed nothing of this nature. The blood tests and everything else they did could not detect the cancer until the dreaded colonoscopy. Sonya wants everyone to know that you HAVE to get checked. We found a huge research center where we are getting this taken care of. They have a lot of information about the subject, in case you might be searching City of Hope. Keep in mind, this is curable and Sonya has surgery scheduled for the end of the week to get this thing taken out. We're totally kicking its ass. We got this. We know that we have a lot of people praying and sending positive energy, and we appreciate it. Keep it up. And don't tell Sonya's dad, if you know him. We'll do it when the time is right. This will soon be a thing of the past. Sonya is amazingly strong and ready to fight. This will be a squash match! Anyone wondering what we're up to...it's this. Nothing else matters. I'll update you soon. Take care of yourselves.

Enjoy life.

The Wrestleline Report-Monday

Be sure to check out the latest wrestling merchandise over in The Wrestleshop! You can pre-order Wrestlemania 24, as well as the new Rock dvd, among other hot selling dvd's and merchandise!

The general feeling is that the Lockdown pay-per-view did double the number of buys the usual TNA PPV generates. Of course, no numbers have been released or confirmed.

Speaking of Lockdown, TNA management was happy with the Samoa Joe-Kurt Angle title match, but acknowledge that some fans didn't like the MMA style.

Peyton Banks recently refuted internet rumors of her being done with TNA.

According to an article in today's Broadcasting & Cable, United States Senators John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama have taped messages that will be seen tonight on Raw.

There were no long term plans for WWE to do a one-night King of the Ring tournament on Raw tonight. Apparently the decision was made in the last ten days.

It was no secret that Vince McMahon was never a fan of Joey Styles as an announcer. McMahon doesn't want the announcers to spend as much time to calling the moves, and more time devoted to telling a story.

For all the criticism of Mike Adalme, he is the type of announcer WWE looks for. WWE has passed over experienced announcers in the past, preferring to hire guys they feel the company can groom. Believe it or not, WWE paid Adamle $300,000 to be more than a backstage interviewer, and despite his age (he'll turn 59 this year), he is being groomed for one of the major WWE television shows.

Ken Kennedy is expected to make his return tonight at RAW; also expected is John Cena, who's been filming '12 Rounds'.

Investigators were unable to find a cause for Jeff Hardy's home setting fire, due to the severity of the damage. Jeff had told invetigators that he thought it may have been due to faulty wiring. For those curious, Jeff is residing with brother Matt during his suspension.

At the request of WWE, Mick Foley has closed down his Ebay store where he was selling his own special merchandise with some of the proceeds going to charity. WWE felt it was competition for their own Auction site.

Clinton, Obama AND McCain-The Real Ones-Scheduled for RAW

It's being reported that all three presidential candidates have recorded messages that will be shown on RAW tonight. Convenient timing, since the Pennsylvania primary is tomorrow!

RAW Preview

As WWE Superstars return from the rich, royal tradition of the United Kingdom to American shores, the stars of Raw, SmackDown and ECW will compete for their own unique crowning glory.

For the first time in two years, a new King of the Ring will be decided in a one-night tournament that commences in the very first hour of a special three-hour episode of Raw, live from the BI-LO Center in Greenville, S.C.

Eight competitors will have to defeat multiple opponents in a single night to be coronated with the treasured crown and robe that WWE Legends and Hall of Famers such as Harley Race, “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, Bret “Hitman” Hart, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Edge have worn during their illustrious careers.

It’s not known which Superstars will make up the tournament field, but be assured that the four men involved in the Fatal Four Way Match for the WWE Championship at Backlash – John Cena, John “Bradshaw” Layfield, Triple H and WWE Champion Randy Orton – will want to make their mark and gain momentum just days before their title tilt. A King of the Ring Tournament victory would do just that.

Also watching the tournament live at BI-LO Center will be Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who have been invited to settle their Democrat differences in Greenville. What will happen as these two titans of the political world face off in the WWE ring? Will their confrontation finally end their stalemate on the road to their party’s presidential nomination? Watch: WWE's invite

With Shawn Michaels and Batista at odds over HBK’s retirement of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair at WrestleMania XXIV, look for sparks to fly if the two cross paths in the tournament or if they match up with their special guest referee at Backlash, Chris Jericho.

Also, the Divas cheered as Mickie James ended The Glamazon’s dominance, stunning fans worldwide to claim her fourth Women’s Championship. How will Beth Phoenix react to the loss? And will other Divas look to challenge the new champion, making her new reign a short one?

Find out as a king is crowned on Monday Night Raw, airing live at a special start time of 8/7 CT, only on USA Network.

Ultimate Warrior to Return to Ring

The Ultimate Warrior Announces His Return To Pro Wrestling Staggering news resounded in the NWE Arena during the Madrid show on April 19th. More than 15,000 fans had the chance to see the award presentation which celebrated the career of professional wrestling icon, The Ultimate Warrior; who was in attendance to accept his award. However, controversy erupted during the presentation when NWE Champion Orlando Jordan mocked a young fan of Warrior's at the event. Warrior was quick to come to the defense of this fan which led to a heated conflict between Warrior and Jordan. On June 25th 2008 in Barcelona, after a 12 year absence from the ring, The Ultimate Warrior will officially make his wrestling comeback in a match against Jordan. The news was confirmed this morning by Warrior's agent, Bernie Gernay in a statement. "For over 10 years this is what the entire wrestling world has been waiting for, the return of the Warrior. We are excited to bring back the greatest character and energy to ever get into the ring. Ultimate Warrior is an incredible marketing machine and has kept a tremendous value to his name which is why the NWE has stepped up with a substantial deal that worked very well for both sides. There is no disputing that Warrior left a mark on professional wrestling that no other talent did and the reason why still today he is often imitated, but never duplicated." Over the next few days the NWE will inform fans of the preparations for one of the biggest and most important wrestling events ever to be held in Europe. As the news progresses it is sure to be the headlines of wrestling news and forums throughout the internet and will most certainly have all in the wrestling industry and fans alike in great anticipation to see what the Warrior will deliver on June 25th, and perhaps beyond.

Kevin Thorn has been removed from the ECW.com roster page, and Drew Mcintyre has been removed from the RAW roster page. Thorn was sent back to developmental a few weeks back to be 'repackaged'.

Samoa Joe was interviewed by The Sun recently-here's some highlights of the interview:

On WWE: "We’ve had talks .. Right now, for where I’m at in my career and the position I’m in, TNA is better for me."

Ring on Honor: "Never say never. The main stumbling point right now is that my schedule is so full, it would be impossible to clear any time to go back. But TNA and ROH seem to be coming to an agreement and I know there’s talk of sending our guys down there, so you never know.
There’s nothing in the works right now, so I don’t want to whet anyone’s appetite, but it’s a possibility."

Would he welcome back Scott Hall? "Absolutely. If he was ready to come in, and on top form, there’s no doubt."

In a bit of weird news, apparently when Brooke Hogan was doing a recent photoshoot for Maxim Magazine, the Hulkster showed up and started taking pictures of her with his personal camera.

TNA Results and Opinions

With all of the results out for the last few days I will just give you my take on TNA this week. Starting the show with Joe and his new shinny belt. Seeing Joe carry the strap makes me realize with all of the bad writing TNA is still doing a really good job. The match with Steiner will be good, but probably a little stiff. Angle came out and will use his rematch clause next week on Impact. This will be a great match on free TV. On a side note what is going on with Angle’s size. He looks sick. The suit he was wearing was swimming on him. He looked like a little boy dressing up in his dad’s clothes. You wonder if WWE was on to something worrying about Kurt running himself down.

Jay Lethal had a great match with Johnny Devine. The X Division deserves it’s own show. WWE really only has a few wrestlers like this on their roster. After the match Petey Williams came out and jumped Lethal he pinned him for the title. New Champ! It is really amazing though that they completely ripped off the WWE Money in the Bank angle and the way Edge has used it before. More bad writing.

Matt Morgan came out and shot a promo about all of his “sacrifices”. Morgan could become a great big man. He has everything from the size, the tone, the agility, and the look. He is only missing the mic skills.

Kaz and Eric Young won the titles from AJ and Tomko, but AJ claims interference because Eric won’t admit he is Super Eric. Titles help up until next week. Really? Really? This childish gimmick is really going this far. I don’t understand the push of Eric, or Super Eric Young. On a side note, LAX in this 3-way match was amazing. Salinas added to them was a great decision, now they just need a mouthpiece. They really miss K-Dogg.

After Cage and Rhyno defeated Team 3D, Bubba and Devon got into a shoving match. So in just a few months TNA has split one of the greatest tag teams ever, VKM (New Age Outlaws). And now they are working on splitting up 3D. How much is Russo getting from Vince to destroy TNA.
In the Main Event We saw Sting, Booker T, and BG James defeat Kip James, Robert Roode, and James Storm. That is not a misprint, that was really their main event. In the finish Matt Morgan came in and assisted Booker T with the win. This was not taken well by Booker. After Sting split up Morgan and Booker from fighting Booker challenged Sting to a match next week. So next week on a Live Impact we have Samoa Joe v. Kurt Angle and Sting v. Booker T.

TNA bad writing, but damn good wrestling!

Kevin Nash Bashes WWE

-- In an interview published today in the Daytona News-Journal, TNA wrestler Kevin Nash was asked to compare the differences in working for TNA and WWE. "It's a miserable existence," Nash said of life in World Wrestling Entertainment. Nash then gives props to TNA president Dixie Carter. "Dixie Carter and the people that run the company have a different philosophy. It's also just the working environment -- there's a lot less pressure. Our boss cares about the guys. She wants us to be healthy. And she feels if it evens the playing field, than nobody has an advantage and guys will live longer."

Jesse 'The Body' Ventura is scheduled to be on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow night.

James Laurinaitis, son of Road Warrior Animal, and nephew of John Laurinaitis, was a guest at Wrestlemania. For those who don't know, he's an All-American Linebacker from Ohio State.

It's being reported that former Midnight Express member, Bobby Eaton is in the hospital for a recurrance of his previous heart issue. His condition is apparently improving, but he's scheduled to be moved to ICU tomorrow. This was posted on the WrestlingClassics.com message forum by Jim Cornette's wife, Stacey.

WWE is returning to the Amway Arena in Orlando, FL on Nov. 4, which will be the first time back at the arena since Wrestlemania.

WWE’s current European tour that ends on 4/19 looks to be another record-breaker, likely to the tune of around $12 million.

Samoa Joe commented in a recent interview about TNA Prez Dixie Carter & ROH booker, Gabe Sapolsky's meeting in Boston from this past weekend, stating that he didn't want to prematurely get fans' hopes up, but there may be a talent exchange between ROH and TNA, and that Dixie Carter seemed pretty positive about the meeting.

It's being rumored that AAA is trying to book Bill Goldberg & Bobby Lashley as a heel tag team for their TripleMania event. AAA is notorious for throwing out rumors like this every year for TripleMania though, so take it for what it's worth.

There is talk about trying to get a hold of Snoop Dogg for another appearance to continue where he left off with Santino at WrestleMania 24. WWE is said to be happy about all the promotion they got from hip-hop radio stations because of his appearance.

There is talk of giving Santino a manager/bodyguard - one name being pushed is Al Barone from development.

Raw Results 04/14/08

Welcome to Raw coming to us taped delayed from London, England. We open the show with William Regal and JBL discussing how Regal screwed JBL by making his Title match at Backlash into a Fatal Fourway. JBL talks about how crappy England is and wants a charter flight back to New York. Regal instead puts him in a match with Triple Hatche (HHH).
In the ring HBK explains how it was Ric Flair’s idea for the match at Wrestlemania and not his idea. So it is not his fault that Flair is gone. Hit Ric Flair’s music. As HBK waits for the Nature Boy, Y2J comes out. He tells HBK that he screwed Bret Hart and he loved ending Flair’s career. HBK answers him with some Sweet Chin Music.

Kendrick and London v. Santino and Carlito
The winner of this match will be the Number One contender for the Tag Team Belts. This was a great match with London and Kendrick really stealing the show. Santino and Carlito are really starting to work well together. Carlito with the Back Stabber on London for the victory.

Winner: Santino and Carlito

Women’s Championship Match
Mickey James v. Beth Phoenix (c)
After such a long reign the queen is dead. Mickey James with a somersault roll up on Beth Phoenix.
Winner: New Women’s Champion Mickey James
After the match Mickey laid a big fat one one Todd G. Congrats Mickey, and Congrats Todd.

Backstage Y2J asks William Regal to make the Batista HBK match a triple threat match and insert him into it. Instead Regal makes him the special referee and puts him in a match tonight with Umanga (Umaga).

JTG v. Trevor Murdoch
Total squash match. They are planning on splitting up Cade and Murdoch and letting them wrestle singles. Good luck Murdoch.

Winner: JTG

Promo for next weeks Raw with a one night King of the Ring tournament. What a treat to have it on free TV. Look for the winner to carry the royalty gimmick after that night.

Randy Orton v. William Regal
Regal is being cheered in his home country. He is really a great in ring performer. Randy and William put on a great match. Regal is old school working Orton’s body over part by part. Out of nowhere RKO.

Winner: Randy Orton

Commercial for Smackdown Main Event, Batista v. Undertaker.

Intercontinental Title Match
Y2J (c) v. Umaga
Very long match for Umaga. I would say his best in ring work. Y2J can really make anyone look good in the ring. Umaga dictates the pace for most of the match. Y2J flying forearm from the top rope. Y2J with the roll up with his feet on the ropes. I feel a heel turn coming.

Winner: Y2J

Hacksaw Jim Duggan v. Paul Burchill
Duggan works really well for being 89 years old. Quick match.

Winner: Paul Burchill

Backstage Todd G. interview HHH.

HHH v. JBL
This is their first meeting ever. That is really hard to believe, but it’s true. HHH is way over with the crowd in London, even more than Regal was earlier. Alright match with a lot of ground work as you would expect. Randy Orton interferes and they ring the bell. JBL and Randy Orton double team HHH. JBL truns on Randy next with a clothesline from hell. Then he lays out HHH and hold up the WWE title. Credits.

The crowd in London was really amazing with a soccer like feel to it.

Current WWE Backlash Lineup

World Heavyweight Championship: Undertaker vs. Edge

After winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania and moving to 16-0 on the Grandest Stage of Them All, Undertaker now heads into Backlash to defend his title against the obsessed former champion, Edge.

The rivalry between The Phenom and the Rated-R Superstar has been on and off for nearly a full year, with each Superstar holding the gold during that time. Edge had time and time again slipped through the clutches of Undertaker, but his overconfidence heading into WrestleMania XXIV may have been what cost Edge the title. Now he must face an uphill battle in trying to take it back from The Deadman.
The Ultimate Opportunist vowed to the entire Rated-R entourage and to his fiancée, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero, that he would win back the title from Undertaker. At Backlash, the Rated-R Superstar will have the opportunity to live up to those words when he challenges The Phenom for the gold.

Will Edge’s vow to Vickie come full circle at Backlash? Can the Rated-R Superstar and his entourage find a way to peel the gold away from Undertaker? Or will the best laid plans of the Ultimate Opportunist rest in peace thanks to the World Heavyweight Champion, The Deadman?

WWE Championship: John Cena, JBL, Randy Orton and Triple H in a Fatal Four Way Match

If two’s company and three’s a crowd, then four, well, four can be downright fatal — especially when you combine the lethal elements of Randy Orton, Triple H, John Cena and JBL in a Fatal Four Way Title Match at Backlash.

The lethal wheels were set in motion the moment Raw General Manager William Regal arranged a Backlash title bout pitting Orton, the reigning WWE Champion, against media maven JBL. Triple H interrupted the GM to make the case that he should be given a title opportunity as well. An intrigued Regal then set a Handicap Match between Triple H and Orton & JBL. The Game emerged with the victory and an opportunity at the WWE gold.

Not to be outdone, Cena’s entrance music broke, and the leader of the Chain Gang pleaded his case with the Raw GM as well. Regal allowed Cena the same opportunity he afforded The Game — a Handicap Match, this time against JBL and Triple H himself.
While the Legend Killer hoped to better his odds and preserve the “Age of Orton,” he watched helplessly as, in one night on Raw, he saw the odds of preserving his reign dwindle to 25 percent against three former WWE Champions. It all started as the friction between Triple H and JBL came to a head, distracting from Cena. After inadvertently receiving a JBL punch to the face, Orton, in a fit of rage, leveled the media maven with an RKO. Cena quickly took advantage and covered JBL for the pinfall and a title opportunity at Backlash.

While Orton managed to scrape out a victory in his Triple Threat Match against Triple H and Cena at WrestleMania XXIV, can the Legend Killer possibly hope to overcome even stiffer odds with JBL in the mix? If not, which of the remaining competitors will survive the Fatal Four Way Title Match to lay claim to WWE gold?

Big Show vs. The Great Khali

The ground is sure to shake at Backlash when the mammoth Big Show takes on The Great Khali. The two oversized Superstars are set to take part in the biggest match at the pay-per-view – literally.

On the April 1 edition of Raw, The Great Khali wasn’t joking around when he interrupted Big Show and cast him a stare that would send most people running. But Big Show returned the favor, getting into the Punjabi giant’s face on SmackDown later that week. A week later, Khali made a peace offering that Big Show wanted no part of. After responding to the peaceful proposal with physicality, it became apparent that these two giants could only settle their differences inside the squared circle.

Big Show is coming off a tough loss to Floyd “Money” Mayweather at WrestleMania XXIV in what many saw as a David vs. Goliath match of sorts. At Backlash, however, it will be two Goliaths pitted against one another.

When Big Show made his return, it was easy for some to point out his 100-pound lighter body as a negative. The Largest Athlete in the World is no less deserving of his name, though. His leaner body has only made him even more dangerous, adding quickness to his massive size advantage.

The Great Khali is not to be taken lightly, either. His stature alone is enough to give nightmares to our fans, let alone to his opponents. If that doesn’t send chills down the spines of WWE’s Superstars, his incredible strength will. And as a former World Heavyweight Champion, he knows how to get it done in the ring.
Something has to give at Backlash. And for our fans, hopefully that won’t be the ground.

United States Champion MVP vs. Matt Hardy

Tensions between United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter and Matt Hardy have been heating up for months, but thanks to a United States Championship Match between the two — as first announced in WWE Mobile SmackDown After the Bell — their conflict could be settled at Backlash.

Before MVP put Hardy out of commission for a span of five months with a knee injury, the rivals found a way to coexist as a tag team, going on to become WWE Tag Team Champions. With a common goal in mind – maintaining their championship status – the Superstars were able to set their differences aside and find success in the ring. But now their reign as titleholders is over and the enmity between them is loud and clear.

Although the WWE Tag Team Titles are out of the picture, gold is still the central theme between these two. Hardy is licking his chops over MVP’s United States Championship as well as for a taste of revenge. Meanwhile, MVP is salivating at the chance to get back at Hardy for diminishing his chances of a victory at WrestleMania XXIV when Hardy sent MVP flying to the canvas during the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

In non-title action on the April 4 edition of SmackDown, the returning Superstar defeated the champion, letting MVP get a feel for the idea of losing the United States Title to his former tag team partner. What will happen as the pent up aggression between these two forces explodes in a contest for the gold? Our fans will find out once and for all at Backlash.

ECW Champion Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero

It didn’t take long for Chavo Guerrero to secure his rematch with ECW Champion Kane. Then again, it didn’t take long for the Big Red Machine to capture the gold from the self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior,” either.

Despite the quick contest between Kane and Guerrero at WrestleMania XXIV, Kane traveled a difficult road to obtain the title. In a special FreeView presentation of the 24-Man Battle Royal, Kane outlasted the likes of The Great Khali, Mark Henry and other monstrous competitors to become No. 1 Contender to the ECW Title. Later that evening, he relied on strategy, which proved to be effective. He took the defending ECW Champion by surprise and laid him to rest in a mere eight seconds.

While Chavo doesn’t argue that he lost, he does point out that he had the difficult task of preparing for 24 different Superstars that night. Backlash, however, is a different story. The former ECW Champion has had since WrestleMania to train with Kane on his mind. He ensured he would have an opportunity to win back the gold before CM Punk used his Money in the Bank ticket, should the Straightedge Superstar choose to earn back the ECW Championship.

Now that Chavo has his chance, will he make the most of Backlash and hoist the ECW Title once again? Or will Kane further illustrate why he is deserving of his championship status?

Shawn Michaels vs. Batista with guest referee Chris Jericho:

After two confrontations, one on SmackDown and then again on Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel, it’s official: Shawn Michaels and Batista will go one-on-one at Backlash with Y2J acting as special guest referee.

Michaels and Batista have argued back-and-forth on whether or not HBK made the right decision by ending Ric Flair’s career at WrestleMania XXIV. The Animal blames Michaels for ruining his mentor’s livelihood, going so far as to tell HBK that he should have laid down for Flair on The Grandest Stage of Them All. The Interpromotional Challenge was inked by Raw GM William Regal and SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero moments after the Highlight Reel confrontation on Raw.
Never one to back (or lay) down, Michaels has fired back that he gave Flair “exactly what he had asked for at WrestleMania,” adding that, he did “what anyone would have done.”

The idea to have Jericho officiate came about when Raw traveled to England. It was there, in his homeland, that Regal made the decision to put Y2J in stripes after watching a frustrated Michaels silence an antagonistic Jericho with Sweet Chin Music.
What will happen when Michaels and Batista, two top-caliber athletes, and former champions, collide at Backlash? Will Batista unleash his anger over Flair’s retirement on the man responsible? Or will HBK give The Animal exactly what he gave Flair at WrestleMania – the fight of his life?

ECW on Sci Fi Preview

Brothers band together

For the first time ever in the Land of the Extreme, ECW Champion Kane and World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker will reunite as the Brothers of Destruction get set to take on WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison.

Unfortunately, their match will not be the only thing on their minds, as still bitter about losing their respective titles, Chavo Guerrero and Edge are determined to exact revenge and return to championship status. They have combined their efforts and enlisted the help of Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder and recently, the best bodyguard money can buy - Bam Neely - to the mix.

Will the brothers of gold be a destructive force on ECW? Or will the Ultimate Opportunist and the Mexican Warrior take this chance and use the strength in numbers to get the upper hand on the champions?

After a loss to Tommy Dreamer last week, Colin Delaney still does not have a coveted ECW contract. But the youngster is persistent and won’t shy away from his goal. Will Delaney ever be able to earn a legitimate spot on the ECW roster?

Also on Tuesday night, Kofi Kingston’s winning streak continued as he was victorious over Domino. It seems no one can stop the Jamaican Superstar, who has been taking care of all the trouble that’s come to the Land of the Extreme. Will anyone be able to wipe the grin off Kingston’s face or will he continue to dominate the ECW ring?

Find out the answers to these questions and more on next week's ECW on Sci Fi, Tuesday at 10/9 CT.

Kevin Nash Speaks on Clique Members

Kevin Nash recently talked about his relationship with his ‘Clique’ friends Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Sean Waltman and Scott Hall to The Baltimore Sun’s Kevin Eck, who does a lot of great wrestling articles. On Scott Hall’s condition after no-showing the TNA Turning Point PPV: “My relationship with Scott " wrestling is probably like one percent of what our relationship is. I knew that if Scott no-showed that he was in trouble. While everybody else was running around concerned that they couldn’t put the match together, I was concerned about my buddy’s well-being. I was very upset about it, but Scott’s Scott. He’s dealing with those issues now and he’s doing better.” On getting help for Sean Waltman and checking him in to rehab: “Yeah. I mean, we’re like brothers, all of us. I think it’s just that we’ve spent so much time together that when one of us shows up at the door, it’s kind of like, “Oh God, my big brother’s here.” And I’m not going to come do it unless you’re screwing up. And if you’re screwing up, it’s like, “OK, you’ve got to take care of this.” The three of us have a really good relationship, as I do with Shawn [Michaels] and Paul [Levesque, aka Triple H]. [Hall and Waltman] have just had a bad year (laughs). But I think in the long run this will probably be the most productive year both have had in a long time.” On confronting Shawn Michaels several years ago telling him he needed to straighten up, and trying to keep his friends safe on the road: “I don’t know. I mean, when we all went out, I drove. I was kind of the dad. I drove most of the miles. They used to say, even when we were pretty screwed up, “You’re the heaviest " you drive! You’ve got more body weight.” For three years, we spent 300 days a year together, in an environment that wasn’t really advantageous to proper living. I look back and I just say, “Of all the guys who have passed, it’s a miracle that the four of us made it through that.” But I think it’s because we did watch out for each other, and we always pulled back the reins and kept an eye on each other, and would say, “Dude, you’re out of control.” I think that’s why we’re all still here.”

The Rush Report WWE/TNA Version Thursday Edition

The ratings war in the United Kingdom is a little closer than it is here. In the U.K., for the week ending 3/30, TNA Impact did 34,000 viewers, Raw did 53,000 viewers and SmackDown did 49,000. That's vastly different than the millions that watch here.

There is talk that TNA is trying to bring in Chris Leathers to help direct Impact and PPVs. Leathers directed WCW Nitro during the Monday night wars, and was the one who actually came up with the name New World Order and designed the N.W.O. logo.

Ken Kennedy wasn’t at Raw this past Monday because he is in Puerto Rico filming Behind Enemy Lines III. As we reported earlier, the film will be made-for-DVD.

The USA Network won the prime time basic cable ratings for the fourteenth time straight last week.

Here's a link to the Samoa Joe Conference Call from earlier today. Joe speaks on his contract status, and numerous other topics http://www.24wrestling.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1207870084&archive=&start_from=&ucat=7&

The Wrestleline Report-Wednesday

RAW on Monday scored a 3.32 cable rating, and AM RAW from last week scored a 0.7 cable rating

There was a billboard in downtown Orlando that featured John Cena, Triple H and Randy Orton bare-chested, and none had nipples. There is a city ordinance banning nipples on billboards.

Cena will continue filming "12 Rounds" through early May, working six days a week. Cena has Monday's off to do Raw.

Carlito cracked a joke on The Miz at the Bacon, Bagels and Biceps brunch. When asked about Floyd Mayweather, Carltio said he is already better than Miz.

A man went into a seizure at a Mickie James-Torrie Wilson autograph session. A certified responder took charge. The responder later noted that James was of great assistance in attending to the man, and seemed quite concerned about his well being.

Female wrestler, April Hunter, is currently featured on AskMen.com, if you'd like to check her out!

The 'mystery man' who attacked Kane on ECW was developmental wrestler, Justin 'The Ox' LaRouche

Just in case you missed it, on ECW, it was announced that 'Barack Obama' will be taking on 'Hilary Clinton' in a wrestling match on the 4/21 three hour RAW. Can we say Donald v. Rosie?

The 4/5 iMPACT! replay did a 0.6 rating.

The rumored main event for Bound for Glory is Samoa Joe vs Sting.

Don West's new insane deal is now available at ShopTNA.com. For only $99 you get 16 TNA DVDs.

Elijah is really amazing in the ring. He really works Nunzio over through the whole match.

Kofi with some quick and high flying moves. Not to much from Domino. They are really trying to give this kid a huge push. Not sure if it is going to work.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

Colin Delaney v. Tommy Dreamer
Dreamer did not want this match but his career was on the line. Good work from both sides but Dreamer hits the DDT to finish Colin off.

Winner: Tommy Dreamer

On a side note Mike Knox has been taken off of ECW TV.

WWE on American Idol Tonight

Triple H, Chris Jericho, John Cena, and The Rock are all scheduled to appear on the American Idol “Idol Gives Back” special on FOX tonight at 7:30 pm EST.

Raw Rating Drops

Credit: ProWrestling.net

WWE drew a 3.3 broadcast rating for this week’s edition of Monday Night RAW at the hands of the NCAA championship game. This is down from last week’s 3.4 rating which was also considered a big disappointment coming out of WrestleMania 24. The first hour drew a 3.15 while the second hour did a 3.48. The show had an average audience of 4.7 million people.

RAW dropped 18% among males in the 18-49 demographic compared to last week’s show, which is a pretty clear indication that the college hoops game had a direct effect on this week’s rating.

Smackdown Spoilers for 4/11/2008

A bunch of dancers are out with The Great Khali to start Smackdown. His manager says Khali has a peace offering. The Big Show comes out. Khali gives the Big Show a bunch of Indian things including a goat. They shake hands then Show knocks him out with one blow.

HBK/Batista in ring segment. HBK says everyone has moved on except Batista. Batista says HBK stabbed people in the back. Michaels and Batista could get by on size, but he couldn't. So he did what he had to. Segment ends with Michaels faking sweet chin music and then a brief brawl.

Vladimir Kozlov defeated Matt Logan. This will never make TV, but Kozlov botched his introduction twice, first by heading out before they were filming and then walking backstage as the lights were on. Absolutely hysterical live.

MVP comes out to do commentary for Matt Hardy vs. Chuck Palumbo. Hardy wins via the twist of fate. Matt then yells at MVP, who leaves the ring area.

The Wrestleline Report-Tuesday

Hopefully everyone will give a warm welcome to new website correspondent, Brian, who covered RAW last night on the main page, as well as some other news and notes and should be contributing on a regular basis, giving live results of WWE tv, and possibly some PPV's!

MMA star Frank Trigg has been asked introduce Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle at Lockdown. Trigg has received rave reviews from TNA.

Neither Jonny Fairlay or Joel Anderson from "Surivor" have signed TNA contracts, but both are likely to do so.

Kelly Kelly was recently asked about the possibility of posing in Playboy, to which she replied "maybe".

Harry Smith (DH Smith) has turned heel, and will use the name The Canadian Bulldog. Smith did the heel turn on Heat.

Ric Flair's new DVD will be released on 7/8.

Samantha and Randy Orton are expecting their first child on 7/15.
An update on IWA Puerto Rico-Mario Savoldi was ordered to return all IWA material that he'd taken back to Savio Vega and his business partner, Jose M. Perez. This includes the video library, production equipment and production truck.

Shane McMahon was asked recently about a physical location for a WWE Hall of Fame museum, and McMahon said that they'd looked at a place in Orlando a few years back, but have yet to settle on where it will be. He stated that it's still probably a couple years away, but they've been collecting a ton of memorabillia, and that when it opens, it should be really cool.

Last week's Smackdown scored a 2.7 broadcast rating.

There's rumors that either Smackdown head writer, Michael Hayes, or RAW writer, Ed Koskey could end up as the new head writer for ECW, with Dusty Rhodes now helping out in Florida Championship Wrestling. There's a fear that Hayes would burn out if he were to write for both ECW and Smackdown, so it sounds as though the company is leaning more towards Koskey.

Rey Mysterio has been nominated for the favorite extreme athlete award, as part of the "American Latino TV Awards."

ECW on Sci Fi Preview

Contracting hell

Chavo Guerrero lost the ECW Championship in only eight seconds to Kane at WrestleMania XXIV, and sought revenge on Tuesday’s ECW, but came up short once again. ECW Champ Kane and Mr. Money in the Bank, CM Punk, defeated the self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior,” who teamed up with Shelton Benjamin.

Still, Guerrero is determined to win back ECW gold when he meets the Big Red Machine at Backlash. What tricks will the former ECW Champion have up his sleeve this week on ECW on Sci Fi during the official contract signing for the Backlash confrontation? What level of hell might Kane raise in the same ring as the Mexican Warrior less than three weeks before the pay-per-view showdown?

Also on ECW, Stevie Richards faced his in and out of the ring rival, Mike Knox, for the first time in one-on-one action. Richards fell short to Knox, whose sights have been set on decimating the ECW Original for the last few weeks. What does Knox want from Richards, and how will the ECW Original show Knox he won’t waver again?

Finally, Colin Delaney is still hoping for a contract from ECW General Manager Armando Estrada. But thanks to an April Fools’ Day trick, Delaney was given a gigantic obstacle to face this week on ECW: Big Show. Young Delaney didn’t have a chance against The World’s Largest Athlete, and once again fell short of earning a contract from Estrada. When – or will – Delaney finally get a WWE contract? Wait, more importantly, will he ever get that coveted entrance music?!

Find out the answers to these questions and more on next week's ECW on Sci Fi, Tuesday at 10/9 CT.

WWE Superstar Mick Foley will make an appearance in the independent film Anamorph. The film first premiered in 2007 and is slated to be released later this year.

Triple H gave an interview to Muscular Development last week and talked about his soon-to-be second child. Past rumors on the gender of the baby have stated that Stephanie is expecting a girl in July. Triple H said in the interview that they do not know the gender of the baby.

He said, "We don't know what it is, we are going to wait and be surprised. Not a lot of surprises left in life, you've got to take them where you can."

The person conducting the interview asked Triple H if he was hoping that the baby would be a boy. "You know, its funny. I would take either one. As long as the baby's healthy, and I know people say that all the time. Having a girl now, if I had another girl I'd be thrilled. At some point I would like to have a boy, and hopefully I can at some point, but it doesn't have to be this one. And my wife wants to have like five kids. [laughs] She better do it soon, I'm getting old, I won't be able to remember their names."

TNA sent out a mobile alert to their subscribers that they are interested in signing Frank Trigg to an announcer contract for commentary and analysis. Trigg is said to be a big wrestling fan and will be at Lockdown to add some insight on the commentary during the Joe vs. Angle match.

For those unfamiliar with Trigg, he has fought for UFC and PRIDE among other MMA organizations with a 16-6 win-loss record. He is currently a color commentator for PRIDE and is hosts an MMA radio show.

The Wrestleline Report-Saturday

Smackdown on Friday scored a 2.6 fast national rating.

Despite stating that they want to take the path less gimmicky, TNA is once again talking about the idea of an interactive ppv-similar to WWE's Cyber Sunday. The reasoning behind this is TNA wanting their ppv's to have their own identity.

In a recent interview with Fighting Spirit magazine in the UK, Kurt Angle stated that he cried after Jay Lethal beat him on ppv a few months back, as it was the equivalent of beating "Stone Cold or The Rock".

Angle also blasted the WWE, when the topic of him wanting a lighter schedule in the company came up. I won't repeat exactly what he said, but basically said something to the effect of telling Vince to take a flying leap, as Angle gave him seven years of his life and five broken necks.

The feeling is that backstage in TNA, Jeff Jarrett and Dixie Carter want Kurt Angle to go more mainstream-taking on any TV, movie roles, or even MMA matches, as they feel it would bring more fans to TNA. This is partially the reason Kurt Angle has been filming a tv reality series. Angle claims that he has been offered TV and movie roles, but my guess is that he's been offered as many TV and movie roles as Brooklyn Brawler.

Sorry, not a whole lot of news today! Be sure to get out and check out some independent wrestling this weekend, though, wherever you are hailing from!

The Wrestleline Report-Friday

Well, just in case the horrible writing on TNA Impact isn't enough for you, Vince Russo has more for you! It's being reported that TNA booker, Vince Russo, is writing a book entitled 'How WCW Killed Vince Russo'. See, this whole time I thought it was the other way around? Anywho-the book is slated for a late 2008/early 2009 release.

Speaking of TNA Impact, Impact scored a 1.12 cable rating last night, with an average audience of 1.4 million viewers.

Apparently there's some tension between Carlito and CM Punk. It seems as though Carlito is somewhat envious of the push Punk has been getting, and WWE has sent him a message by making him job to Punk, as well as doing the 'dating skit' with Santino and Maria. Gee, if I'm WWE...give the big push to the spoiled cry baby who has a crap work rate, or the really popular guy with a niche style and works his guts out..

Two midwesterners were originally slated to be 'The Edgeheads'-and from what I'm hearing, this actually would've been a better pair. Colt Cabana & Ace Steel were originally slated for these roles, with Steel being the 'serious wrestler', and Cabana being the comic relief. Apparently Edge was all for this, but it was thrown out the window when Edge got injured during the Mardi Gras gimmick with Kane. Obviously, WWE decided to use The Major Bros. instead, and Ace Steel was fired.

Remember how the current AWA gave Larry Zbysko the AWA Title back? Well, just an FYI, his first title defense is in two weeks at an event in Fayetteville, West Virginia called 'Mountain Mayhem'.

Vince McMahon gave Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels rolex watches. Both watches were inscribed with "24," with Flair's saying "To Be the Man," and HBK's saying "You Gotta Beat the Man."

The Flair Tribute overrun segment on Raw Monday night scored a 4.7 rating.

Flair has been taken off the Smackdown roster page and Kane has moved from smackdown to ECW on WWE's web site.

Roddy Piper missed Wrestlemania weekend due to a movie project he current is involved with.

Smackdown Spoilers:

Edge came out with Vickie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero and the Edgeheads and cut a promo about losing the World Title at Wrestlemania. Vickie announced Undertaker vs. Kane for later in the show.

Matt Hardy defeated MVP in a non-title match with the Twist Of Fate.

Jesse & Festus defeated The Edgeheads.

Shawn Michaels came out for an interview, but was interrupted by Batista, who said if he was in Michaels' position, he would have let Ric Flair win. Batista made his own "Old Yeller" comparison for Michaels, and walked off angry.

It was announced that Michelle McCool beat Cherry in the final round of the Diva competition. Victoria came out and attacked Michelle.

John Morrison & The Miz defeated Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore. Great Khali came out and beat up everyone. The Big Show came out, but Khali backed away again.

Undertaker vs. Kane ended with Edge, Chavo and The Edgeheads attacking them. Kane & Undertaker made a comeback and laid out Edge and Chavo with chokeslams.

Former WWE Developmental Talent Checks into Rehab

This is from a myspace bulletin:

No joke guys, I want to be the first to get this out at least on this myspace before it hits the news sites or rumors begin. Very few people that are closest to me know that I've been battling an addiction for quite some time now. And those that didn't know, will probably be pretty shocked as they read this message to find out that I have an addiction. I am proud, very proud to say that I've accepted the fact that that I am going to do finally get off of my ass and do something about this addiction. I pride myself on being honest with people therefore I have nothing to hide in this situation. This is a serious matter that well be taken care of starting at 6 am Friday(TODAY) when I get on an airplane to begin my road to recovery. I'm sure most of you will think or say "Well I would've never thought" Well, I'll be the first to tell you, with Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig being my idol even after his death, and as great of a man and in-ring performer that he was...I can honestly say that nobody, and I mean NOBODY is Perfect, we all make misakes. But then, it's up to us to own up to our mistakes, accept the mistake and take responsibility and action for your mistake, and not to make the mistake again.

I am thinking of this as my new beginning as I search for the fire that once led me to a WWE Contract, a drive that allowed me to do nothing but succede in life. I'm not blaming anyone or anything else but myself for allowing this mistake to happen, it's unfair, it's un-humble, if there i such a word, and just flat out untrue. I won't dare blame anyone or anything else.

Fans, Family, and friends, I'm asking you for your support, for your inspiration, for your prayers, for your love, and stick with me as you always have. I cannot begin to tell you how much I've appreciated the love and support from each and everyone one of you throughout my Professional Wrestling Career, Music Career, and my personal life. No matter what I did, after wrestling, a lot of you have still kept in touch with me, and supported me, letting me know that I am still missed, and that I am still loved and always will be, I tell you know right now there's no high that can top that. But as much as you guys miss and love me, I miss and love you even more. I don't care what anyone thinks if they are thinking that I'm trying to kiss up to anyways, hell no, those of you that know me or know of me know exactly how I am. So people, I THANKYOU from the top and bottom of my heart with everything I was, everything I am, and everything I'll ever be.

I will be back, I can promise you that, I will be back. You guys feel free to keep in touch with me via email, myspace or if you have my phone number. Soon, I will be posting an address to send me mail, I would really love to hear from each and everyone of you, I promise that I will respond to you, I could use each and every one of you right now.

Email: mackjohnsonjr@hotmail.com

and I have a mailing address posted as soon as one is available for LETTERS, write me guys.

Who knows where this will lead me......not only to a happier healthier life...but maybe back in the business that I was born to be involved in?

I would like to thank Vince McMahon, the whole McMahon family, Jim Ross, Ann Gordon and WWE as a whole for making this opportunity available.

Now for past email, dated before this day of April 4th, for those of you that did not receive replies from me, please accept my apology, I do my best to try to keep up with everyone

I can't thank you enough, I'm ready, I'm willing and I'm able, as that old cliche goes.

Family, Friends/Fans, I love you all.

do not give up on me, I WILL BE BACK, I PROMISE

Your Friend,
Mack Johnson Jr.
