R.I.P. 'Playboy' Buddy Rose

Dave Meltzer is reporting that former AWA tag team champion Buddy Rose (Paul Perschmann) was found dead earlier today by his wife in his Portland, Oregon home. A cause of death is not known at this time. Rose, wrestling as the masked Executioner, lost to Tito Santana in the opening match of WrestleMania 1985. You might catch "Playboy" Buddy Rose currently on AWA on ESPN Classics, often teaming with his tag team partner "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers, managed by the late Sherri Martel. The rather large Rose would be introduced as weighing 271 lbs., but Rose would correct them by saying he weighed a slim trim 217 lbs.

The Wrestleline Report-04-29-09

TNA has contacted former WWE wrestler Lance Cade about coming into the company. Cade is interested, but has some Japanese commitments to finish up first. As you may already know, his former tag partner, Trevor Murdoch debuted in TNA last week under the moniker 'The Outlaw' Jethro Holliday, teaming with Eric Young.

TNA star Bobby Lashley will be interviewed on HDNet's 'Inside the MMA' this Friday night.

Candadian wrestler, Jaime Dauncey aka Sirelda, is looking to return to TNA, and is planning on working with WWE Hall of Famer, Superstar Billy Graham in hopes of getting back into the company.

For those interested, TNA's Lockdown ppv drew an attendance of 4500, with 3500 paid.

The post-Backlash edition of RAW did a 3.42, off hours of a 3.46 and 3.37, averaging 5 million viewers.

Well, as if Hulkster wasn't already eating his words enough with the OJ comments, looks like they could bankrupt him now, as ex Linda filed papers in Pinellas County, Florida, claiming that she's in 'imminent danger of becoming a victim', and is seeking an additional $8200/mo. from the Hulk, so that she can move 'thousands of miles away from him'. She's also seeking an additional $24,000 for 'advanced rent and security deposits'.

If you watched RAW last night, leave your thoughts! It looks like the RAW main event for Judgment Day will be Batista v. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, and possibly Big Show v. John Cena. Also, it was announced that Randy Orton will be taking on Shane McMahon on RAW next Monday.

Former TNA wrestler, Lance Hoyt, announced at a recent PCW in Arlington TX that he has signed with WWE. The promotion aired a farewell video for him while the wrestlers gave Hoyt a farewell celebration.

Just in case you missed it Sunday, Vince pulled one of his ribs on good ol' JR, having Santina announce that she was in love with JR. Vince loves making fun of JR on camera, but this is the first time he's done it in a while.

Some tag team rumors; WWE creative was throwing around the idea of teaming Hornswaggle with Festus. Also, during the European tour, Mike Knox & Charlie Haas were teamed together, being announced as 'Hard Knox Connection'. If the two are paired together for good, it would most likely be on Smackdown.

Matt Hardy may have to be out of action for about four to six weeks, due to his injury from Backlash, though he's going to try and keep a presence on tv during that time.

There's rumors that Edge will be starting a feud with Undertaker, as there are ads in different cities for upcoming house shows promoting the two facing off.

WWE Superstars Spoilers for Thursday:

The Wrestleline Report-04-27-09

WWE Backlash Results:

Christian d. Jack Swagger to become the new ECW Champion

Chris Jericho d. Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat

Kane d. CM Punk

Jeff Hardy d. Matt Hardy in an 'I quit' match

Legacy, aka Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, Jr. d. Triple H, Batista and Shane McMahon, thus Randy Orton is the new WWE Champion

Edge d. John Cena to become a, believe it or not, 9 time World Champ

My two favorite heels came out victorious last night, so that's good enough for me. From what I've heard it was a pretty good ppv, but leave me your thoughts after the beep.

John Cena is expected to take some time off from the road starting next month to do some filming for an upcoming movie.

Thanks to Big Freaky for leaving your TNA show input from over the weekend!

Matt Morgan was given the weekend off as a result of a car accident he was involved in the previous weekend in Philadelphia. He managed to work his Lockdown pay-per-view match with Abyss despite being banged up.

TNA's YouTube account has uploaded the opening video package for this week's episode of Impact.

The TNA website has added Daniels to the roster section.

'Babyhead' Bobby Lashley also made his debut for TNA last night, coming out following Team Jarrett's win against Team Angle.

After the Lockdown ppv went off the air, Team 3D came out to the ring and celebrated with Mick Foley. Mick talked about how he remembered wrestling in Japan for $64,000 and only being able to think about coming home to wrestle at the ECW Arena for $900. Several ECW chants broke out.

Apparently at WWE's live event in Salzburg, Austria on Saturday, all of the seats in the arena had a flyer advertising TNA's upcoming tour in September.

WGN America had been heavily promoting WWE Superstars all weekend long, promoting John Cena & Triple H as being featured on this week's show.

The rating for this past week's show still has yet to come in-which is probably not a good sign.

The Indy Wrestleline 317-592-9401

I'm not sure if you've been paying attention to this story or not, but Hulk Hogan making references to how he can relate with O.J. Simpson is really making a stir. Basically, Hogan was talking about his own personal frustration of how he lives half a mile from his old home, and every now and then sees a 19 year old boy driving his escalade, and knows that 19 year old boy is sleeping in his bed, with his wife-and that he could totally relate with O.J., as far as the rage he must've felt. Really really really wrong analogy to use, and you would think that someone who has spent his entire career speaking in front of people would be able to use better verbage. Basically it's all a big p.r. mess, with reps from he and Linda's side going at it.

It's being reported that the reason Layla was moved to Smackdown is because there was only one other heel diva on the roster, that being Michelle McCool.

Mexican wrestling star, Sicodelico, Jr. recently announced that he has signed a WWE contract. He states that he'll be in Florida Championship Wrestling for the next few weeks, sharpening his skills, before he gets moved up to the main roster. You can check out his myspace page at

MMA fighter Josh Barnett attended Wrestlemania XXV in Houston as a guest of DH Smith. The ECW Superstar has trained mixed martial arts under Barnett to help him with pro wrestling. Barnett is currently ranked by and as the No. 2 Heavyweight fighter in the world.

An interesting note-the WWE Encyclopedia that's out now is actually listed in the 'advice' section of the New York Times best selling list. Apparently the reason for this is because it's meant to be grouped in with the miscellaneous category.

WWE officials are said to be very high on Divas Champion Maryse due to her personality, hence her move to Raw during the live draft on Monday night. Fellow Raw Diva Beth Phoenix is expected to turn babyface soon, leading into a key singles program between the two.

ECW on Sci Fi scored a 1.3 cable rating, which is in line with what the show has done in recent weeks.

Apparently WWE 24/7 will soon be changing names to WWE Classics on Demand. I don't understand this, because there's still a lot of people that aren't even aware of the 24/7 service, or are just catching on, and it's like WWE's going to have to start over somewhat as far as marketing the service.

This week's edition of Raw featuring the 2009 WWE Draft did a 3.73 cable rating off hours of 3.2, 4.0, and 4.0 on the USA Network. The show would have done a 4.0 cable rating in its normal time slot.

Apparently after it was announced that Melina was being moved to Smackdown, she got emotional backstage, and was comforted by Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, and later the Bella twins.

Last week's Smackdown on MyNetworkTV did a 2.0 broadcast rating, with a 4 share.

Matt Hardy v. Jeff Hardy in an 'I quit' match has been added to the Backlash ppv. The match will be set up on Smackdown this week.

ECW On Sci-Fi returns to Tuesdays at 10 PM on May 5th, 2009. The show will remain in the 10 to 11 PM time slot from that point on.

CM Punk recently hinted that he may cash in his Money in the Bank title shot leading up to the Judgement Day ppv.

Andrew "Test" Martin’s cause of death was Oxycodone intoxication and ruled the manner of death was accidental overdose.

In a recent interview with ROH owner, Cary Silkin, he says words that echo my exact sentiments, when talking about Ric Flair coming in; "As great as our guys are, I'm a realist. Unless you're an Internet wrestling fan, you're not going to know who Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuinness, or the Briscoes are," said Silkin. "We need to attract the rest of the world. I think Ric is the perfect person to put into that spot." I put this on here because one of my main problems with independent wrestling is it seems that some people don't want to be noticed, and are comfortable with the 'status quo', and I just don't understand that. I feel like if you're going to do something, do it right, don't just half ass it. Some people seem like they'd rather keep things an 'underground', hush hush type thing, where only their friends know about what's going on. I hate this kind of mentality, and think that independent wrestling should flourish for everyone who wants to make their pro wrestling dreams of superstardom a reality.

A wrestling fan from TMZ stated that they were sitting next to Candice Michelle on their flight, and she spoke about how she hoped that she'd be going to Smackdown in the draft.

Apparently Great Khali is not permitted to leave the states to finish filming his Bollywood movie that he was filming last summer. The reason for this is that he's under WWE contract.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ring of Honor's Bryan Danielson is looking to pursue a career in Mixed Martial Arts when his ROH contract expires in May. The American Dragon has been training five hours a day at the Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, and plans to continue his training in Thailand this summer.

The Wrestleline Report-4-6-09

Wrestlemania 25 Results:

WWE Tag Team Champions Carlito & Primo vs. World Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz

In a dark match that took place prior to WrestleMania XXV tonight, Carlito & Primo defeated John Morrison & The Miz to become the first-ever Unified Tag Team Champions

Winners/New Unified Tag Team Champions – Carlito & Primo

CM Punk vs. Mark Henry vs. Finlay vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Kofi Kingston vs. MVP vs. Christian vs. Kane

Winner – CM Punk

The divas came to the ring as Kid Rock was performing, so you really couldn't even keep track of who was in the match until they were eliminated. Match was said to be a complete was of time.

Winner - “Santina” Marella aka Santino.

Chris Jericho d. WWE Hall of Famers Rowdy Roddy Piper, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, & Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat-Mickey Rourke was sitting ringside w/ Frank Shamrock. After the match, Jericho and Flair had an altercation, followed by Mickey Rourke, of course, getting involved-hitting Jericho with a right.

Matt Hardy d. Jeff Hardy

Rey Mysterio d. JBL, then afterward JBL says that he 'quit'.

The Undertaker d. Shawn Michaels to remain undefeated at WM. This was called, by many, the match of the evening.

John Cena d. Edge & Big Show to become the new World Heavyweight Champion

Triple H d. Randy Orton. This was considered to be a pretty disappointing match, considering all of the build up. By the way, H's entrance, where he broke through glass with a sledgehammer was apparently pre-recorded.

Apparently numerous Comcast customers had problems ordering both the HD and regular version of the Wrestlemania ppv.

During Finlay's entrance in the Money in the Bank match, Michael Cole stated that Finlay was in the match last year, when he was actually in the match at Wrestlemania 23.

With JBL 'apparently' not coming back to the announce booth, it appears there are no long term plans to find a replacement for Tazz. The idea right now is to have either Jerry Lawler or Matt Striker fill in the spot, for the time being.

It's being reported that in this year's WWE draft on April 13, RAW and Smackdown will be treated as equal brands, considering the drop in ratings for Smackdown since the switch to MyNetwork TV.

Apparently TMZ covered Mickey Rourke appearing at Wrestlemania and called him a 'sellout' for doing so, and that he'd lost whatever dignity he had left. Ouch.
